Public Enemey #1= The Black Man

I have daughters. I'm white. If Joe Bob Fo'Shizzle shows up on my door to have dinner with me and the family in hopes of dating my daughter, I will judge him by his actions, not his skin tone. If he thinks that mainstream rapper Kill Whitey or I like to hit women have really good views on life and society, I'll cheerfully escort him out, while holding my shotgun.

What is the most feared/stereotyped/hated race in the world? You won't like my answer, but here it is. Caucasians. People of european descent. Damn near everybody would like to kill a caucasian. That's why we like guns so much.

I've seen only a few Africans in my life, don't believe any of them was American, but the African American music videos that I've seen might explain why no-one outside their culture would want to marry their daughter to an African American - abuse of drugs, women, guns, dirty language, fashion that might make you blind, etc.

I also learn about the world through music videos. I do believe if you are white, have long hair and an oddly shaped guitar you will get laid all the time even if you sing off key in falsetto. I have also learned from videos that Jesus was black and that Madonna slept with him.

If only MTV was played more on TV, and not just watched by prospective parents in law, our future would be filled with well informed young people.

Judging from the rest of society, I think he probably has a point, but for me personally I wouldn't mind at all if my daughter was with an african american. I'd secretly be really happy about it, I'd be like "I'm in! Yes!".
Africans in general (including afro americans and jamaicans) are people I tend to relate to very easily, I find them warm fun loving easy going people, with that certain style or charisma that cool people just have and it makes them better than others from my perspective.
I might be a little concerned about him leaving, cheating or beating, but I definately have no innate revulsion to the prospect of my linneage outcrossing with the negroid strain.

If my daughter wanted to marry a jew a gypsy or an asian (anywhere in asia) I'd kill her and try for another, but white, african, polynesian, australoid ... all good.

I might be wrong but I think your sentiments are rare rather than the norm for white males from older generations. Maybe white males from my generation find it cool to hang out with blacks or imitate black culture but a great percentage of their parents have an inner fear/natural curiosity of the black man. But remember folks its still only my opinion!
 
Wait. So you are telling me that it is an opportunity of my generation (31) to finally put away all the racial bullshit? That my kids have a chance to live without any racial prejudice or hatred? American society is built on it, though. White people don't trust anyone, including other whites. We try to be niceynice to everyone, and feel exceptionally sorry for the Jews. Slavery was unfortunate, but believe me when I tell you that I feel zero remorse for what my great-grandaddy did. When black young men get into the whole foolishness of "the white man is holding me down." I have many black friends, African, Jamaican, various caribs. They all admit a certain embarassment at the portrayal of "the blacks deserve to be taken care of". I look at it as a weird kind of autoracism, wherein black people make decisions leading to their living situations being substandard because they think that is what is expected of them. I have had black social workers warn me away from predominantly black housing areas.

Sorry. Had to vent.

If I had a daughter and she brought home a guy, of any colour, who thinks "mainstream rapper Kill Whitey or I like to hit women have really good views on life and society", I too would escort him out the door. Except with a big butcher knife in hand.. I don't own a gun.

My point is that an awful lot of racism is caused by the people who feel that racism is bad for their race. Perhaps maintaining an illusion of prejudice against one's race will cause enough fear and guilt in the race one is suggesting is putting one's race under prejudicial hatred. What those maintaining this illusion fail to see is that so much goes in to maintaining the illusion that it detracts from their ability to overcome obstacles without aid.

Your conclusion does not follow from the scenario you described. They wanted her to marry specifically a Somali man, so a non-Somali of any other color would've been just as bad in their view (concluding from what you said). Those poor countries also happen to be more conservative in their values, and they are the kind of people who expect their children to marry someone of their own kind - not only of their color, but also of their cultural upbringing.
