OT vs NT Inerrancy

tiassa,

...Questions for you...
But this one wasn't one of the big ones....

Exactly the docetic problem overlooked by Athanasius. What happens next is that because of Jesus' divinity, his physical suffering was lessened, thus alleviating the condition of torture. You see the slippery slope? The problem is that the Trinity was invented not independently from Scripture, but without regard to the limitations set by Scripture.
Who said His suffering was lessened? It wasn't! And who the heck is this "Athanasius"? Does he understands the scriptures? :bugeye:

Cool ... I'll get it in that thread.

Um ....

Now ... er ....

Did it ... nnnno.

Ummmmm .....

(Really, um ... can anyone give me a hand with this one? Please?!)

Okay, okay, okay ....

Seriously, man? I'm going to go smoke ....

Okay ... everything's good. The baby is sleeping, my blood chemistry is approaching target levels. Now then ....

- St. Athanasius (Catholic Encyclopaedia)
- Athanasius, St., Bishop of Rome (Encyclopaedia Britannica, 1878)
- First Council of Nicaea (Catholic Encyclopaedia)

A note on that last ... see my post entitled "The crucifixion thread?"

:m:,
Tiassa

tiassa,

Catholic? No kidding...
The Romans always had problems concerning grace... they live by works. Which creates condemnation. Which creates violence.

He apperently has doctrines and theology... This is wrong. Even the Bible states so...

Mark 7:6-8
"6 And He said to them, "Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written:
'THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS,
BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME.
7 'BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME,
TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.'
8 "Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men."

I haven't seen this thread... but now I don't have time... it is too late...

The baby is sleeping
Awww... Do you have her picture? Can you post it?:)

Um ....

You seem to be missing a vital part of history. A quick question: Did Christianity magically appear just in time for you to convert? Or is there a history of ideas to consider?
Catholic? No kidding...

And Protestants have done marginally better living by a book that would not necessarily have been available for them to bowdlerize without the Romans. I was raised Protestant; we still said the Nicene Creed in our church. Don't dodge into Catholic-bashing; it would not serve this topic a whit.

I have to ask ... is your browser not set to underline hyperlinks? (Note--the thread in question was hyperlinked in this topic's crucifixion post.)

tiassa,

Christianity unfortunatly changed with time. The Romans apparently got very spread. If you read Paul's letter to the Romans, you will see that he constantly talks about grace. It is very clear that the Romans did not understand the basics of Christianity and really screwed up everything. But the basic Christianity told by Jesus can be summarized in "love one enother".

And Protestants have done marginally better living by a book that would not necessarily have been available for them to bowdlerize without the Romans. I was raised Protestant; we still said the Nicene Creed in our church. Don't dodge into Catholic-bashing; it would not serve this topic a whit.
I'm not bashing anyone. I'm just informing what is the Catholic's mistake and where you can find it in the Bible. You were raised protestant? Well.. the I guess you are a Christian... :)

I have to ask ... is your browser not set to underline hyperlinks? (Note--the thread in question was hyperlinked in this topic's crucifixion post.)
That one in particular wasn't underlined. The rest was.

No pictures from today, but these words here are the link.
Awww... Cute...:)

They are almost two different books. Both of them talk about the promises God has for us. In the first, God keeps us away from sinning. He gave us a Law so that we can strive to be like Him. The Law was made in His image. Basically, the Law prevented us from going to hell by keeping us from sinning.
Where is hell addressed in the Torah? Why do you deprecate the Noahide Laws and the Mitvot?

Where is hell addressed in the Torah?
Anywhere. At least, explicitly. One can argue that hell and heaven are states of the mind, but there is also the issue of "eternal life". To discuss about that is quite crazy, cause it needs A LOT of scripture research...

I have no idea what you are talking about. Please, cite scriptures.

I don't recall reading anything in the Bible about "Noahide Laws"... :bugeye:

By the way, since you're so ready to teach us all about the bible, what, in your expert opinion, is the prefered version of the Torah/Tanach/OT to use.

ConsequentAtheist,

You've tried twice and you still don't have it right. Try again.

By the way, since you're so ready to teach us all about the bible, what, in your expert opinion, is the prefered version of the Torah/Tanach/OT to use.
So you are saying YOU is the expert...:bugeye:
This Noahide Laws is a doctrine, something that men wrote, not God. Again...

Interlinear Bibles are the best to use....

What, in your expert opinion, is the prefered version of the Torah/Tanach/OT. For example, do you have a preference for the LXX or the Masoretic text, and why?

BTW: gMk clearly doesn't apply - but I bet you would have figured that out sooner or later on your own. ;)

LXX, BHS, ... ?

I've answered your question.:bugeye:
No, you've avoided the question. The distinction between OT variants is not a trivial one. How, for example, do you address the primitive polytheism of Deuteronomy 32:7-9?
