Let me be clear. I’m not advocating that we vaccinate people against their will. That would be wrong. We must ensure that the safety of our community is the number one priority. That means that participation in everyday life cannot put others at risk. If you do not want to be vaccinated against COVID-19, you ought to bear the consequences of that decision.

I know after writing this my office will be inundated with correspondence from anti-vaccination activists demanding to be heard. For those of you who do contact me, know this. I disagree that one should bear consequences for deciding to not be vaccinated against COVID-19.
and actually I am an anti-vaxxer for now and am not willfully ignorant, I simply refuse to go through with it until I have all of the medical facts, rather than believing the hype. once I have said medical facts, I may wish to be vaxxed, or not, it depends on what said facts entail.

If you can’t distinguish between expert medical opinion and hype, there is something awry with your critical faculties.

Do you seriously think all these crash programmes to develop a vaccine, by governments and academic institutions, are fake, or the result of irrational panic on the part of all the medical experts involved? Why do you think they are bothering?

I am fine with that, as long as you are confined to your home until either the pandemic ends or you are vaccinated.

actually the hype I am referring to comes from every day random people.
and no.
governments and alleged Brainiac's are bothering for a reason not yet known to me.

Why not try engaging your brain and thinking why these people might be giving a vaccine so much attention? Has it really not crossed your mind that it could be because we need to vaccinate people against this virus, to allow normal life to resume?

True. It could be rank stupidity, I suppose. But I don’t believe antivaxxers are really that stupid. They are irrationally wedded to a silly idea, in the face of the evidence. That involves deliberate ignorance - ignoring the evidence that vaccines are efficacious and have saved millions of lives.

What? Have you never read anything about smallpox, or polio, and how these have been virtually eradicated thanks to vaccination? How can a person decide to be an antivaxxer without bothering first to read up on these classic examples before deciding? Deliberate ignorance, perhaps?
 
the good news
you vaxxers will contribute to herd immunity
and
thereby save many non-vaxxers
many of whom
cannot be vaccinated due to other underlying conditions and/or medications
and, also
the stubborn who, for personal reasons, some of which are religious, will not be vaccinated
good for you vaxxers
you do not have to save the lives of only those who agree with you
you can save many more, even those whose choices are diametrically opposed to yours
even is, by accident
good for you.
