Right now I am listening to a band local to Nanaimo, my friends' band, the Lady Esther. If you guys want to hear them, and/or see what they are about, you can check out their website, http://www.theladyesther.com. It has a jukebox with streaming audio of their two most recent EPs.

Song of the moment: Never Stop

I wish they would re-make You Broke My Heart on a better quality CD than is currently available. Right now I only have it on the original LP I bought 30 years ago, and it has a few minor scratches, but the only import available is out of Germany, and the quality is horrendous, as bad as a pirate copy, and very expensive for such low quality. You can get a high quality re-make of Spooky Two, so I'm hoping that in the near future a better copy of the former will be out.

Meanwhile, listening to Captain Beyond, the debut album.

And it feels like, that you're with me or against me
And it feels like, that your promises are all a mess
And it feels like, that to push me is to shove me
And it feels like, the only way is the wrong way
And it feels like, the only way is the wrong way
And it feels like, the only way is the wrong way

Yeah, I know, it's old as shit, but it still rocks

Jimi Hendrix - Purple Haze

This guy made the guitar his bitch and worked her all around the town...pretty good for a pothead who never learned to read music.

This song has the sickest guitar work in it. Bow to the master.

And Hendrix played that right-handed Stratocaster upside down picking with his left hand.

Saw him in the spring of '69 just a few weeks before I left for basic training.

To me, Voodoo Child is the ultimate Hendrix. That and the work he did with Buddy Miles on Band of Gypsies.
