If you're a Dub fan, you MUST have this cd. The quality of production and vision are unmatched by any other trance-dub effort to date, with only Shpongle coming close with their catalogue. Originally created as a soundtrack for a documentary about the Kumba Mela [at times the largest gathering of humans in one place at one time on the entire planet, able to be seen from outer space as a big brown dot...] the album has reached many more people than the film itself.

The Kumba Mela Experiment

Woob is U.K.-based ambient-dub musician Paul Frankland, whose albums for Em:t Recordings are among the most praised and encompassing documents of post-rave ambient of the last several years. Incorporating Middle Eastern instrumentation and vocalese with Jamaican dub-style production, tight, snappy breakbeats, blankets of synth drone and melody, and heaps of treated samples and field recordings, Woob is a sort of state-of-the-art snapshot of heavily hybridized post-rave experimental ambient.

Kumba Mela as in the Mela that goes up to Vashnu devi mandir..(not sure of that completely).... through Rishikash and brings out the holy men who otherwise never leave the mountains due to their prayers. The same mela that takes place once every 12 years????

today on the way to work, i listened to:

A Fall Farewell "The Impermanence of Beauty" twice.

A short EP only consisting of 6 songs, these guys from Florida really rip it up. Some of their obvious influences are Poison the Well and Skycamefalling. They do the "new-hardcore" thing, and like most bands, do it on a very unique level.

I recommend this group to anyone who likes emotionally inspired music that is dynamic, heavy, and melodic all at once.

Frente-Marvin the album
The Flaming Lips- Yoshimi battles the pink robots
Weezer-blue and green album
Black Crows-Shake your money maker
Ella Fitzgerald- The best of Ella Fitzgerald
Pearl Jam-Philidelphia (a concert 2 cd set)
A Perfect Circle-Mer de noms

Other things will get thrown into the mix as the mood hits.
