Now It Is Time To 'cure' Stupidity?

Genetics is just on facet to curing stupidity, Cybernetics is another and one...

I can see a very long line forming already for brain enhancing stem cells injections and Direct Brain Link PDAs. Making designer babies though tends to piss people off so the best future is in those that are already born.

So basically why nip it in the bud when you can do it later and get around all those dam Christian fundamentalist?
 
Pumpkin, you wouldn't be advising on the improper usage of a coat hanger, would you?

You forget, christian fundamentalists are against stem cell as well. We could always alter our dna using retrovirii, and that way we could alter those already living. But that would require activating those additions, and the effects may only be on newly made cell, and the brain cells don't often undergo cell division. I think we are still alot of research away till we get to the Khan Noonian Sigh stage of genetically tweaked humans. Anyone know where to get powerfull lab micorscopes on the cheap, preferably binocular and high powered?
 
Well we could always use specially engineered pig stem cells then :D the blood brain barrier helps a lot in that retrovirus situation as well.

If we can increase brain density with more neurons and connection then in theory it would make your more intelligent... could also do lots of other things though, such as enhance perspectives or produce certain odd psychological disorders

How much of a 'cure' would this be? Isn't some of it enviromental?
 
i say, gather up all the certified morons, obnoxious, rude & stupid-on-purpose people and pen them up and throw in toss in a couple rounds of DDT.

why not just give them brain implants saves alot of killing... on the other hand your idea would be cheaper and it would solve our over population problem!

maybe as a thought experiment, but there is a huge variation in human brainsize and this doesn't seem to be correlated to intelligence.
 
Yes brain size has little correlation with intelligence but brain density (in particular regions of the brain) does. This density is cause by very well connected neurons and adding more neurons would in theory help... but not much because it would increase energy demands and there is only so much blood that can get to any area of the brain. I would always vouch for direct link cybernetics: I really badly need a PDA inside my head!
