Mafia - the forum game

your right they are random but its possable that norsefire is still mafia. Enmos thought he could throw off suspicion by trying to be the most active member but he fucked up and gave himself away

so we have
norsefire
enmos
and possably the cop as mafia

wont know wether the cop was one of them until we see wether enmos tries to resurect him

I've yet to see proof for either of those. In my mind, its inzomnia and Challenger, and MAYBE Norsefire depending on a few things. What those things are, I have no clue.

Where is the proof for Enmos?

There isn't much proof for Enmos, just suspicion, but if he resurrects Unixgeek13 I will probably vote for him to be arrested, however, the problem is if Enmos proves to be mafiosi Norsefire will probably be mafiosi as well, and he may well legally represent him again, we just have to wait and see what Enmos does...

A little more housekeeping:

1. I notice that several players decided to talk about the game during the NIGHT (in the signup thread). Please don't do that again. Talking may change the minds of the Mafia as they think about their kill vote.

2. Regarding the time allowed for nights and days:

We have some members complaining that a 12 real-hour game DAY is too short, especially if it is in their real-life night time. Since different players are spread through different time zones all around it the world, it is unfair and impractical to have a game DAY much shorter than about 24 hours. This is why I have set a period of 22 hours until the day 2 voting deadline.

When it comes to game NIGHT, there are only 5 mafioso (or is it 4 now?) who need to vote for the kill. They should, in theory, be able to do that faster. However, the Mafia might also be spread across different real-world time zones. For this reason, I will always let NIGHT run until (a) I have received a clear majority of votes for one player to be killed from the surviving Mafia, or (b) about 24 hours has passed (whichever happens first). Notice that DAY 2 started early, because there was a clear decision from the Mafia about their kill vote.

Finally, to those who complained that the game has been too fast so far, I note that DAY 1 lasted 34 hours, which should have allowed all interested players ample time to register a vote.

And to those who think that the game has been too slow, remember that players live in different time zones. Just because you are awake doesn't mean that all other players are awake or able to post. Your 7 pm might be somebody else's 2 pm or 3 am. People have to sleep and work; they can't dedicate 24 hours a day to this game. But requiring a commitment of at least logging in once every 24 hours if you're playing the game is fair, I think.

From the complaints, it seems to me that about half the players think the game is too slow, while the other half think it is too fast. You can't please everybody, so I'm trying to strike a reasonable compromise. For the "too slow" mob, there's always the "fast" game that Betrayer0fHope started. And I'm sure you can find other ways to amuse yourself while you wait for the "it's all too fast" players.

To summarise, here is the policy I intend to apply to this game:

DAYs will be close to 24 hours long in real time.
NIGHTs will last however long it takes to get a majority from the Mafia, or about 24 hours, whichever is shorter.

This policy is also subject to my own work and sleep patterns. Like everybody else, I have a real life, and I cannot be here 24 hours a day to moderate the game.

James' let something slip he shouldn't have, it was a clear majority/quick decision, what was so obvious about killing the cop?

That seems reasonable James, unfortunately this game has become my life as well, BOH we're in the same boat

As for the majority vote, I'm not sure, the mafia must have some sort of plan going on though, maybe we're playing into their hands, hmm... this is concerning

lol, you guys have NO idea how much summer homework I have to do before my school starts in 2 days. High school's so scary!

I'm always thinking that, but in order for that to be true one of us would have to be mafia, and we're not.

summer homework?
we never had anything over the christmas holidays because that was between years and we hadnt started the next years classes

lets switch our focus onto Asguard. Is he mafia or a towns person?

He seems to be against Enmos quite a bit, but did not respond to the question of where his proof is. He is the most valuable person to the townspeople, and wants to change Enmos' role to someone else. What I don't get is why he isn't doing it now to another mafia member, it wouldn't look THAT suspicious.

Hmmm i'm not sure, he really hasn't done much to sway me either way, if he's mafia he's dangerous but if he's a townsperson and we vote him out then one of our most important roles is gone...

nietzschefan has the most powerful role in the game, and hasn't done much in general. Also, Om's post a couple pages back went almost completely unnoticed.

What Enmos posted (illegally) at night in the other thread, there were way too many people who just decided to vote for him to save inzomnia, what's with that?

As I said you and Enmos were my prime suspects for mafiosi now i'm sure you aren't mafiosi but until Enmos makes a move i'm still not sure about him, trust no one I suppose, the mafia is out there, the question is only where

Thats right I forgot about the unilateral vote... hmm hopefully he isn't mafia

Here's my guess for the mafia(in order for most sure to least):
Challenger
inzomnia
Skaught
the dead cop
nietzschefan

I agree with asguard, if you base it only on the post about the PM she received that doesn't mean anything, it could have been about anything...

No no, there's a lot of evidence stacked up against inzomnia. When she was about to be arrested she changed her vote from someone who could've taken the fall for her to Enmos, the town doctor, the most beneficial role to the townspeople. Then, her fellow mafia members voted along with her to turn the vote on Enmos. Sorry for the sloppy/late response but my post got deleted after I finished writing it and I didn't feel like typing it all again.

vote: domesticated om

that vote ISN'T changing unless it's gonna be useless.
