Kiss and Tell

Is it inappropriate to kiss someone you aren't married to or aren't related to in front of children? I did it. And three parents have told me that they had a problem with me kissing someone I was neither married to nor related to in front of their children. I don't get what the big deal is, I wasn't making out or anything, but perhaps I'm being naive. What's your opinion?

Depends on whether it was a kiss or a full-blown snog.

But why is it okay to kiss your spouse or relative and not anyone else in front of children? What kind of conclusions do children draw if they see that? (aka me and my best friend)

i surpose it depends on a) how you were doing it b) who it was

Ie if you were full on going for it you may make the PARENTS uncomfertable (note i didnt say the children, children dont really seem to care about the sorts of things there parents get so upset about:p)

As for WHO, i could understand if your OWN children caught you cheating with another man there father might be just a LITTLE bit upset:p (understatment of the year)

Oh maybe that's what they were mad about. I'm not married, but everyone does know who my boyfriend is... including the kids and their parents. Maybe that's what they meant seeing as my best friend isn't my boyfriend. The kids all know him, but the parents don't. hmmmm

i was joking about that BTW:p

I think if you were cheating your BF would be a little bit more upset about other things rather than if you kissed in front of kids:p

i didnt mean for you to take it literally

Maybe they just find it unappropriate because it is your place of work. I am assuming this happened at the daycare you work at? Maybe they just figure that is something you should be doing on your own time and not in front of their children.

Maybe, but then why didn't they say that it was inappropriate behavior for work? Instead of tainting their children. I'm just really paranoid about it because I'm always getting in trouble for "tainting" people's kids. All of the parents have so many different rules, I'm constantly screwing up. From the "don't tell my kid about that Santa Claus crap" to "don't you dare spoil my child's beliefs about Santa Claus" So I have to pick my battles wisely and have a good explanation prepared all of the time.

People are weird when it comes to their children. you got your baby on board signs, you got you tot finder signs.

out of interest who ultermiatly employes you cutsie?
i understand if you dont wish to say but is it the state or a private company?
if its the state tell the parents to go shove there heads up there ass and follow the guidelines set out by the public service because thats your job

If its a private company that is more difficult oviously but still just follow there guidelines and tell the parents if they dont like it to talk to the company

I think it's not appropriate to kiss anyone in front of anyone. Maybe in front of a dog is ok, or a retard. A good rule of thumb is- Anyone you wouldn't shit in front of, don't kiss in front of them.

It makes my dog jealous when I kiss or hug anyone who isn't him. But it was a chaste kiss, like the kisses they do at the end of disney movies, probably couldn't even get mono from it.

so you kissed a man who wasn't your boyfriend in front of their kids. I can se how that would be confusing to a kid.

I don't think its any of their business and they are over-reacting, but yeah, I can see how they would think it confuses the kids.

Your boyfriend doesn't mind you kissing other men?

He knows I have a weird relationship with my friend, as in I do touch him a lot. My boyfriend does get jealous, but I told him to get over himself right from the start because my friend was there first and if I had to pick between the two... So now he just keeps his opinions to himself.

Dr Lou Natic:
I think it's not appropriate to kiss anyone in front of anyone.

I was about to say the same thing. Kissing is usually an intimate act, and I feel rather uncomfortable when I see people groping and kissing in public. Get a room, FFS.
