While I do tend to agree that it's best to start with the writer and not being sincere, and then her, even if it is true it's still just coincidental and the most interesting aspect of these kinds of stories (for me) is the reaction of the reader.
Even if it is true, so what? It's still just coincidental.
Just as with other rare events it's always astounding to me when people go from coincidence to "well it has to be magic, ESP, God, an alien" etc.
