Love is a great motivator for violence too. You love your country, so you would fight for it, you love your family or your religion... all the same thing.
They do accept Jesus, as a prophet. They just don't accept that he was the Son of God.

Leaders are better at being con men/women than others are. Convincing others to give them money and do as they ask is not hard to do and little education is needed. The better educated you become, in some instances, the more you would be able to determine who was telling you the truth. Is the truth a supernatural being that controls everything and everybody or that evolution is how everything began and continues on.
Unfortunately The educated exploits the ignorant and this howe happened in the crusades , in islamic attacks , bolsheviks uprising, many time the poor peasant just needs some dirt to plant some thing to eat , and leave me alone . It happens in the present society also.
Yes, look at the Taliban, as one example, they kill anyone who wants an education so that they can keep their group of people trained to do only as they want them to do.
