2:191 And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution is worse than slaughter. And fight not with them at the Inviolable Place of Worship until they first attack you there, but if they attack you (there) then slay them. Such is the reward of disbelievers.
2:193 And fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah.
2:216 Warfare is ordained for you, though it is hateful unto you; but it may happen that ye hate a thing which is good for you, and it may happen that ye love a thing which is bad for you. Allah knoweth, ye know not.
2:244 Fight in the way of Allah, and know that Allah is Hearer, Knower.
5:33 The only reward of those who make war upon Allah and His messenger and strive after corruption in the land will be that they will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land. Such will be their degradation in the world, and in the Hereafter theirs will be an awful doom.
Your assertion is probably not true. Wikipedia's high/low estimate for the Holocaust is 17M/4M, whereas for the Crusades it's 3M/1M.Even Catholics have had their "Muslim side". We like to forget history but the Crusades and Inquisitions killed more people than Hitler and did not stop at men.
Islam teaches that shari'a, as God’s revealed law, perfect and eternal, is binding on individuals, society and state in all its details. By logical extension, any criticism of shari'a is heresy. Muslims who deny the validity of shari'a in any way are labeled as non-Muslims (infidels) or apostates (those who convert to another religion) by traditionalists and Islamists. As such, they face the threat of being prosecuted for apostasy, a crime that carries the death penalty in shari'a.
The mandates of shari'a are extremely harsh compared to modern Western standards. They infringe on many modern principles of human rights, religious freedom, and equality of all before the law. For example:
Hudud punishments are the severe penalities prescribed by shari'a for offenses defined as being against God himself. The punishments for these crimes are seen as divinely ordained and cannot be changed by humans. These include 100 lashes or stoning to death as punishment for adultery; 80 lashes for false accusation of adultery; amputation of limbs for theft; 40 or 80 lashes for drinking alcohol; imprisonment, amputation or death (by crucifixion in serious cases) for highway robbery; and the death penalty for apostasy from Islam. Methods of execution for apostasy can include decapitation, crucifixion, burning, strangling, drowning, impaling, and flaying. Apostates are denied a decent burial after their deaths, and the Muslims who participate in killing them are promised an eternal reward in paradise.
A womans clitoris is known to help a woman enjoy sex, and if god (yes we are discussing religion) put it there than leave it there. This practice is something else that would never happen legally in a civilized country.Female genital mutilation is widespread among some Muslim communities, especially in Egypt, East Africa, Yemen, and Indonesia. Many Muslim leaders see the practice as essential for preserving women’s chastity on which family honor largely depends.
Discrimination on the basis of religion is fundamental to shari'a. By religious edict, Islam must be dominant; only Muslims are considered to be full citizens. Jews and Christians are defined as dhimmis (literally “protected” i.e. permitted to live). However this protection is on condition that they do not bear arms, know their lowly place in society, treat Muslims with respect, and pay a special poll tax (jizya).
Shari'a is an Arabic word meaning “path” or “way.” Today the term is used most commonly to mean “Islamic law,” the detailed system of religious law developed by Muslim scholars in the first three centuries of Islam and still in force among fundamentalists today.
Does that include the right to choose dislike? "Freedom of choice" usually implies that that freedom is only granted as long as one stays within certain limits. If you are arguing for Freedom of Choice then I agree
It still affects the way they go about things. Ever been to Malaysia?Oh, and BTW. Islamic Women can learn to read and write here and become doctors, lawyers, and own their own land and businesses. A muslim woman can buy a McDonalds Franchise if she has the money. Imagine all those free burgers.
You do? No one actually knows. Given that this was several millennium ago, you have to cast aside your own modern thinking and place yourself in that time period. Fact is, it is quite possible they knew exactly what they were saying, and how it would be interpreted.I doubt the Muslim Scholars who wrote the Sharia Law knew that rape victims would be stoned to death because of it
No, it won't....this type of action will force the UN and Human Rights countries to remove Shari'a Law from the planet.
And as soon as a religion makes changes to accommodate more modern ways of thinking, it sees itself as becoming more distant from itself. Witness the struggle the Catholic church has had to survive, and the way it clings tightly to its tenets.Islam as a religion is fine, but when that religion Kills, maims, and ignores human rights then it must be reigned in. It needs to be by choice only, and it needs to exist as a religion and not a form of law or government.
Religions like Islam, Christianity, Mormonism, Judaism will die off naturally. I know quite a few ex-Muslims in both Western and Middle Eastern countries. I even knew a Muslim who was born in Iran and became a Scientologist while living in Tehran (as a teenager) and then an "agnostic". You can read and listen to Arabs from all over the middle east that stopped believing in "Islam". It's such a ridiculous religion with so little value outside of societal acceptance that I doubt it'll make it to the end of the century looking anywhere near what it looks like now.
I personally maintain the main problem with the middle east is violence against children. Once that is abolished the religion will soon follow.
I personally maintain that Christianity is not a "religion" and therefore not "like" Islam, Mormonism, and Judaism. Christianity cannot die as it is synonymous with Jesus Christ Who is God Incarnate. He is very much alive at this moment. I also personally maintain that men will discover--to their horror--that they really did believe in God but hated Him and deliberately chose hell.
People will discover that what they've learned about Jesus is basically myth just like the other religions are largely man-made. The way Jesus and God are depicted aren't even good enough for the way God should be. Ideas about God, which have been developed over the years, have been how people have unconsciously supported the ethics of the day and given it an impression of authority.
Well, see, there's another problem.I personally maintain that Christianity is not a "religion" and therefore not "like" Islam, Mormonism, and Judaism. Christianity cannot die as it is synonymous with Jesus Christ Who is God Incarnate. He is very much alive at this moment. I also personally maintain that men will discover--to their horror--that they really did believe in God but hated Him and deliberately chose hell.
Well, see, there's another problem.
We still have a few of this type floating about.
They have millions of them.
I certainly will not be religious to things I know better than. What about woman with out sheets over their faces, or pastors who don't molest children.
