Which would be a demonstration of the actual bias in hiring ....and just who the fuck would admit to that? And if they don't admit to it, how can you come up with statistics for it?

If someone wants to work for less money than someone else and has agreed to the terms of the contract of employment why should the government tell them they cant?
 
Yes, I can:

Equal pay laws have done a lot to redress male-female pay inequality - and it is the gender gap that is the main source of the imbalance, not differences between ethnic or religious groups

Your source was not substantial evidence that the gender gap has anything to do with pay not being equal.

If most women aspire to work part time to spend more time with children then they will probably do so if they can afford to.

The ones that can afford to will be the ones in better jobs with middle class husbands who are in well paid jobs. Therefore the ones that work full time will be the ones who need to for the money, the ones doing jobs that pay less.

Therefore the statistic you have in your source samples men from a full spread of jobs and women from a disproportionate number of lesser-paid jobs.
 
As a male, for reasons unbeknownst to me, I once was paid more than my female co-worker, who technically held a higher position and had authority over me. Coincidentlally, the difference in our pay matched a contemporary statistical difference, about 16%. Equal pay for equal work? There's a reason employers tell people to not discuss their pay and benefits with their coworkers. It could lead to revolution, or worse, unionization.
