You should reserve judgement until you experience it yourself. My ideas of the after life does not come from others experiences, but their experiences make sense according to what I think. We are allowed to think about these subjects, aren't we?

OBEs and NDEs are clearly not supernatural; anymore than a dream is supernatural. However, saying an OBE or a NDE is your soul leaving your body is clearly supernatural.I don't agree. I NDE's, and out of body experiences, are common place, and are not supernatural.
Just because we come across something that science can't explain we label it supernatural. I don't agree.
jan.
Science is a form of philosophy.I'm convinced that physicists are out of their depth when they play at being philosophers and metaphysicians.
Sean Carroll has no more authority talking about theology or metaphysics than I have talking about physics.
A natural explanation might exist, but happen that at the present human understanding of science is limited to physical mater.OBEs and NDEs are clearly not supernatural; anymore than a dream is supernatural. However, saying an OBE or a NDE is your soul leaving your body is clearly supernatural.
A natural explanation is that it is a hallucination or the brain playing tricks on us.
Everyone is eventually forgotten so everyone eventually dies I guess. Some just linger on longer than others. I hope I am just forgotten quickly after I dies so I can get some goddamn rest. They are not dead who live in the hearts they leave behind. - Tuscarora
Jesus is not forgotten, , His spirit is growing in more people daily . You " Orgin " you are just a hindrance for the glory of JesusEveryone is eventually forgotten so everyone eventually dies I guess. Some just linger on longer than others. It's OK your cheerleading for Jesus more than offsets my hindrance.Jesus is not forgotten, , His spirit is growing in more people daily . You " Orgin " you are just a hindrance for the glory of Jesus

How do you know that?
The problem is that I'm supposed to take Sean Carroll's word for it. I might as well go to church. There, too, they want me to just take their words for gold.Physicist Sean Carroll is convinced that there is no life after we die.
I think it is paradoxical from a scientific point of view because the philosophy of science teachs there are rational arguments to support atheism, but no one rational argument in favor of theism.
Because the nature of the ethical problems is extremely complex (corruption, gender equality, euthanasia, conflicts of interest in scientific research, etc.) theism would be a sort of fast food of the philosophical ethics, the formula of lowest cost to educate young people in morality.
I speculate the profound nature of theism could be a sociopathological response to minimize the moral problems, a reluctance to solve them.
Or they can be dismissed by quoting the Bible:Philosophical objections concerning "Why would transcendent creators devise such over-elaborate, dramatic, round-a-bout hoops for the invented counterparts of their ancestors to tediously leap through?" can be dismissed by both empirical circumstances and potential exposure of lazy intellectual capacity in regard to conceiving a wider array of reasons and possibilities.
Good question.IOW, where did this (absurd?) notion of "gods should be reasonable and kind" ever come from, in light of how most mythological denizens are as emotionally unstable, immoral, or demented as the lesser creatures they lord over?
