Interspecies adoption

Racehorses often have companion dogs, goats, or other animals. Most of these racehorses are male.

Chimps have adopetd kittens (a food item, in the "wild" ). I know of at least one cat that has adopted the family parakeet, and a dog that adopted a litter of wild rabbits - protected them from other dogs, herded them away from the street and other dangers, etc.

Wolves and ravens, in the wild, get along very well.

Most adoptions seem to be of babies - lots of animals have an apparently inborn recognition of childhood, even in other species, and a tappable nurturing reflex.

my partners dog seems to like her new guniee pigs, it remains to be seen wether she wants to eat them or protect them though
