You mean comets?well Earth was dust before it was Earth. And about water on Earth, I am a believer that it came by asteroids.
As to the article, interesting, but the DNA/RNA still needs to get from being embedded in mineral layers to actually being active and acted upon. Would ribosomes/ribozymes be able to function in these mineral layers?
I suppose this might be a source for raw material of simple genetic material, but at some point it has to become more than raw material and this would, I think, need to be done elsewhere.
