Rumors are flying that Clinton may soon bow out of the race.
TALK OF HILLARY EXIT ENGULFS CAMPAIGNS
Mon Jan 07 2008 09:46:28 ET

Facing a double-digit defeat in New Hampshire, a sudden collapse in national polls and an expected fund-raising drought, Senator Hillary Clinton is preparing for a tough decision: Does she get out of the race? And when?!

"She can't take multiple double-digit losses in New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada," laments one top campaign insider to the DRUDGE REPORT. "If she gets too badly embarrassed, it will really harm her. She doesn't want the Clinton brand to be damaged with back-to-back-to-back defeats."

Meanwhile, Democrat hopeful John Edwards has confided to senior staff that he is staying in the race because Hillary "could soon be out."

"Her money is going to dry up," Edwards confided, a top source said Monday morning.

Key players in Clinton's inner circle are said to be split. James Carville is urging her to fight it out through at least February and Super Tuesday, where she has a shot at thwarting Barack Obama in a big state.

"She did not work this hard to get out after one state! All this talk is nonsense," said one top adviser.

But others close to the former first lady now see no possible road to victory, sources claim.

3 years ago I would have given good odds that John McCain would be the next President. 6 months ago that it would be Hillary. Many of us have learned humility in making 'sure fire' predictions!

Huckabee/ McCain ?
McCain/ Bloomberg?

Obama/ Edwards?
Obama/ Richardson?

There's no doubt if Hillary wins the nomination it will be:

Clinton/ Obama

If Giulliani wins then:

Giulliani/McCain?

Very hard one to call. Exciting for a change.

The race still hasn't even started, we are 300+ day from the election, and Hillary started her run last January, time enough to wear on the nerves of the American Voter to the point that they are tired of Her and the election already.

No way she drops out. It's far from over, and she has way too much invested. She has everything to gain, and what does it cost her to continue?

I'd say that's a very unlikely combo. Guiliani and McCain both are weak with the conservative base. So either of them would likely pair with a mega-conservative. Maybe Huckabee, or someone already out of the race.

Call me crazy but I´m still with Fred. I just betted 5€ @ 36.00 at centrebet Thompson to win, like Buffalo said, race isnt even started yet. Slow start is good for him since the other candidates wear them selfs out in eyes of the public.
Not Obama, but Hes not Republican so Fred dont have to worry about him, in the end Reps with ReaganII will take the pot, amazing but thats my gut feeling

Good point but....I'd agree more 'if' there was some third party running to the right of them. A lot will depend on motivation. If Hillary wins the Demo side then all the righties will be motivated to defeat her. If Obama wins then the Reps will need some motivation to turn out (as you rightly point out, a religious fundy like Huckabee on the ticket).

Buffalo...true 'officially' but the lass has been drooling for power since 1992. She's 100% political animal...might make an OK President but that would be secondary to her lust for power.

Hillary ain't out of it yet. She has plenty of money and the big primary states still have yet to come...

She's dead. She can't control non-caucus states as she she may have in Iowa. Independents will flock to Obama in open poll states (New Hampshire, case in point).....more importantly South Carolina coming up....an Obama lock.

So a week ago people were talking about how little Iowa mattered, and now with one slightly down showing Iowa has knocked the big bad Clinton machine out of the race ?

Iowa is the state that gave the Dems Kerry - and then didn't even vote for him in national. This is going to be a long campaign.

I would have thought that caucuses are plainly less representative than direct voting. Why do you imagine that a direct vote would not support Clinton? Also, do you really think that Iowa is representative of the rest of the United States?

The libs shouldn't start celebrating just yet. Remember Howard Dean? :D :yay:

From the bad experience with Bush, I highly doubt a republican conservative will win this election. Obama already has the support of blacks, and white middle class soccer moms. :D

No doubt conservative fundamentalist Christians like sandy will be doing everything they can to retain their man in the White House. Non-rednecks will really have to mobilise to get a Democrat elected, even despite the Iraq war etc.

With two days to go until the New Hampshire primary, a new CNN/WMUR poll out Sunday afternoon suggests that Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois has opened up a double digit advantage over New York Sen. Hillary Clinton in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.

CNN: Obama 39%, Clinton 29%, Edwards 16%
Rasseman: Obama 37%, Clinton 27%, Edwards 19%
ARG: Obama 38%, Clinton 26%, Edwards 20%

You might as well have burned that money. Fred isn't going to win. He's too haggard, old-looking, slow, balding, and he has cancer.:(

I'm not a fundie or a redneck. I thought name-calling was a no-no--especially by mods? :(
There are some GREAT redneck pics tho:
