the foundation of spiritual relationships are eternal - I think you would agree that the foundation of material relationships is eternal (even though we may commonly say "I love you forever", it seems a bit unfathomable how someone could be the eternal lover of any one since such relationships have a beginning and more often than not an conspicuous end even in this life) - on a side issue, it interesting how we commonly have hopes of eternal love yet are unable to find any such receptacle in the material world ....
so to get back to the dream thing, just like in a dream we take our situation very seriously (like we may scream when we see a tiger in a dream) but it is everyone's common experience that upon waking, the substance of dreams are understood to be just dreams - similarly, to be actually reinstated with one's eternal relationship with god places all other ephemeral and conditional relationships in perspective
