Hi Globenstein...Its up to you, I guess people can define the terms they use in their post but only if they really want to - I don't want to limit peoples experiences by definition or the constraints of langauge...this is an experiential thread.
Everyone please feel free to speak as you will without worry from the 'word police.'

Now it is such a bizarrely improbable coincidence that anything so mind-bogglingly useful [as the Babel fish] could have evolved purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as a final and clinching proof of the nonexistence of God.

The argument goes like this: "I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."

"But," says Man, "The Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn’t it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don’t. QED."

"Oh dear," says God, "I hadn’t thought of that," and promptly disappears in a puff of logic.

"Oh, that was easy," says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white and gets himself killed on the next zebra crossing.

Most leading theologians claim that this argument is a load of dingo’s kidneys, but that didn’t stop Oolon Colluphid making a small fortune when he used it as the central theme of his best-selling book, Well That about Wraps It Up for God.

Meanwhile, the poor Babel fish, by effectively removing all barriers to communication between different races and cultures, has caused more and bloodier wars than anything else in the history of creation.

- Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

Actually Athenwulf there are richer definitions:

demigod and demigoddess noun 1 mythol someone who is part human and part god, especially someone believed to be the offspring of a human and a god. 2 a lesser god. 3 a person idolized like a god.

As mentioned in #3 I'd rather people didn't get hung up on definition....remember no 'word police'.

Yes, and my explanation wasn't meant to be an exhaustive definition. Just a guide thereto.

As you also said in that post, people can define the terms they use in their own post if they really want to. You're too hung up on these "word police".

Exactly so what's the problem?

If I had said your definition was wrong or invalid - I could understand your point...I just enhanced it.

I had thought you were implying that I shouldn't provide a definition, because of the sentence where you said we shouldn't get hung up on definitions.

In fact, one could say that you were playing 'word police' - Globstein asked me for a definition of 'demi-god' I didn't want to be prescriptive ...why did you feel the need to push your interpretation onto Globstein?

Do you have any personal experiences you wish to share regarding the OP Athenwulf?

Stop falsely accusing me of things, and stop putting words in my mouth. I demonstrated the meaning of one of the root words, and told globenstein that it might be easy to figure out a definition from there.

Do you have any personal experiences you wish to share regarding the OP Athenwulf?

No. I have seen neither a god nor a demigod.

And I'm Athelwulf.
