Half human, half animal

half and half can be considerd 50% of each, :bugeye: as long as they stick to cells then there isn't much harm done

Where the animal half? They removed the cow nucleus so all that is left is mitochondrial DNA.

and what would that come out to become? Who should be responsible for the "creation"?

In the first stage probably that of the university of NewCastle supervised by the britisch goverment but the scientific result and there implication in medical health care and others will probably be selled to other goverments and big farmaceuticals and the likes (think anyone who might be interested enough to pay the price).
Later on mostly patent laws on applications

Our are you refering to the future freak nation?

Ok this is how it will could be useful:
Say a couple wants to add another mouth to the human plague but thankfully one or both of them are sterile, so they decide to make a clone, but getting donated human egg cells is very expensive so they use a cow egg cell instead, long story short clone is born that is 99.9% genetically identical to its origional, except it has cow mitochondria.

Therefore in the future it would no longer be a insult to say to someone that his mother is a fat cow.

ElectricFetus Do you think that the human population in 50 years will be larger then the current population?

Probably, but not as much as we fear, as more and more people move up in class they tend to have less babies and many first world countries now are sooooo well off that the people have neutral or even negative population growth (not including immigration from 3rd world countries) the goal now should be to find the technology to move everyone up to first world status or higher and then they will all stop breeding on their own, no "one child" laws, no mass genocide.

Why not distrust them?
I see benefits to distrusting them. I see nothing lost in distrusting them.
And it puts the next 'scientific team' on notice when they come with the next experiment that pushes the boundary a little further.

But seems the advancement are inevitable, boundary are getting blurred day by day. Everyday, values and beliefs are grounded (elevated) to a new level. Imagine one day, we will have lab made super super human killing machine that can go to war and perform assassination; we can have lab made "something" experiment all our AID vaccine; we can have cheap slave that can do everything at our command...

Don't we already use pig products in grafts and wasn't there a baby that got a baboon heart?

Look at it this way with the advances in technology it more likly that those killer bots and cheap slaves will be mechanical. The real danger is when it would create a new class of super intiligent people with a underclass (think gattaca). That would be serieously over the top borderline stuff would be parents who give their children green hair or recreating neanderthals and homo ancestors changing earth to a triumvirate

Bioroids are possible in our future so is genetic engineering, but we already have Classism problems and we manage to live with it alright.

Ah, more things I distrust. Part of things that are questionable coming into existence is the perpetuation of the idea that they are inevitable.

It would be unethical to allow such to become an adult. People should expect to be able to mix their genes with other people who have human mitochondria, not cow mitochondria. However, it is unlikely that such an embryo would be viable beyond a certain stage, because the cow mitochondria would likely lead to fatal conditions for the human cells.

You know, our DNA is something like 90%+ animal.

Well, 100% animal, and we share 90% of it with other animals. At least.
