I don't agree with you about the huge sweeping waves: I think they are simply a byproduct of what's going on in the brain. I don't think they serve any purpose, and that they are simply a result of the workings of a relaxed brain. Also, this has nothing to do with the precognition aspect, and also doesn't explain why things would be able to be picked up at large distances!
