Fully autonomous cars just 2 years away

In the meantime, NVidia reveals new AI supercomputer for self-driving cars NVIDIA DRIVE PX 2, announcing in the same time a partnership with Volvo: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/nvidia-announces-new-ai-supercomputer-for-self-dri/1100-6433507/

NVIDIA DRIVE PX 2 will allow the auto industry to use AI to tackle the complexities inherent in autonomous driving. It utilizes deep learning on NVIDIA's most advanced GPUs for 360-degree situational awareness around the car, to determine precisely where the car is and to compute a safe, comfortable trajectory.
The Nvidia Drive PX 2 supercomputer is the size of a lunchbox and has processing power equivalent to that of "100 MacBook Pros."

Update: General Motors joins the (self-driving) race by investing $500 million in Lyft, a company focused on creating a self driving ride hailing service: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/05/technology/gm-invests-in-lyft.html
