Crazeymikey, religion is the antithesis of science, not a form of it. Religions only serve to paralyze peoples capacity for critical thinking, and rely on arguments from authority to establish "truths", rather than observations, facts and evidence.
I could say you are anti-religion, from your animosity towards it. Religion was an early form of science that fuelled research. Early cultures, fascination with the gods from the stars and their attempts to map it, to build structures aligned to stars, to devise complex mathematical and geometrical systems to construct temples and motifs and alters using chemical principles to manufacture copper and bronze. Science always was apart of us; it's not just started recently - it's always been ongoing.
Interestingly, I'm sure if we had a similar conversaion with someone of that time, they would call their belief system based on facts, evidence etc, and dismiss those other scientists who think the world is round. Much like, how you and others, are dismissing others as pseudoscientists who have alternative theories.
