Earliest forms of life

Gold plated oil-burning censers, filled with smoking abiotic fumes.
Each chrome-plated one, gets to dip their stick one at a time, they form a long chanting line, wearing the sacred oil-stained headgarb.

Just don't cut one 'til you get to the end, ok?

Beautiful!
Each dipstick throbbing with possibilities and anxiously awaiting the hastened turnaround period whilst the dipstick receptacles gape in crude anticipation.
* erggghhhh!!*

We have the data. It is in long conserved sequences of DNA.
From what year, 2008?

It is in the known environment of the early Earth. It is in the demonstrable chemistry of the early Earth.
So why didn't scientist think of it until 2008?

Note that there are two posteoris at work here. We can't get much more posteori than four billion years after the event. The other one is the arse you are making of your argument.
A posteriori means experience. You've never experienced 4.5 billion years ago. What will you do when scientists speculate about something alive that predates archean nucleotides?
