Does Christianity makes us better persons or worse persons?

Does Christianity Make us Worse or Better People? I think it depends on the person and what they take away from Christianity. Charity and forgiveness are probably good things.

Sort of a bit of a repeat
Does not matter how much good you are doing if like Typhoid Mary you are spreading your religion disease to others

:)

I suppose it depends on your emphasis. Christianity rose during an exceptionally cruel period in human history. Heck, even the messenger was crucified.

Don't know about you but I don't want even a little bit of Typhoid

Also do you think the world has settled down and is less crual now?

:)

Too late. You are the beneficiary of a society that grew up on Religion. You are infected.
But I have had my Science injections and booster shots

My internal brain scan shows no sign of religion and Huey Dewey and Louie do regular patrols

:)

So what is wrong with that? and probably since that he started to look for god, for a helper and he put his faith in that being , as example many of native american ,believe in the great spirit, that created nature, so they protect nature.

What's wrong with it is those who were killed due to "nature" don't get a say in what gets believed in

:)

Oh Great Spirit thank you for the Bountiful rain

Bountiful rain causes flood. A few natives drown

Oh Great Spirit thank you for sparing me from the flood. I will dedicated my life to you

The few natives who drowned don't get a say about if they want to drown or be saved so they can dedicate their life to the Great Spirit

:)

You could potentially take it further...

The natives who survive start to think that the reason they were saved and not the others is because of the strength of their belief/faith.

So your going to go with The Dad Threat "Eat your porridge or I'll give you the belt"

Of course god takes it to a new skyscraper level
"Worship me or I kill you. This is your loving god speaking"

:)

From Magic Realist Post 1
What makes this any different from jihadist Islam?
Above relates to Christian beliefs. Modern Christians do not advocate violence against or death to those who are not Islamic. They merely expect judgment after death.

Many (some or most?) Jihadists advocate violence against the living who do not believe as they do.

As an atheist, I do not consider modern Christian beliefs as threats of violence against me.

I will take my chances in the hereafter if is there is some form of continued existence after death.

BTW: I envy believers. It is a comforting POV when contemplating mortality. The best comfort I can get is putting my eventual death in the category of events over which I have no control.

May I have the courage to change the adverse events over which I have some control ; The peace of mind to accept the adverse events over which I have no control control; & the wisdom to know the difference.
