Also, with future developments, such as the ability to create universes, create life, etc, we could have the same abilities as those we would define a god as having. That depends on your definition of a god though.

I don't think we need to be able to create a universe to not need a god. There can be other causes for things we need and depend upon where a god is not necessary.

Many people depend on holding that they have an independent self.
How could such a self possibly exist or come to be, if not for an act of God?
