to build size... you do few reps with alot of weight.

once you have the size... you do reps to turn those soft muslces into hard muslces.

if you only do massive reps... 1000's a day... you will develope seriously hard muscles.... muscles you can use... with strenght that lasts.

I hope you aren't thinking of "toning" because that's a bit of bull.

For hard muscles, you need to a serious strength training program. That means, 3-5 reps of HEAVY weight. This makes your muscles dense.

Hypertrophy training makes the muscles bigger, but not as firm.

For truely big muscles that are firm, you need to do a strength training program for a few years.
 
Why is that? It's better than the so-called "low fat" or "low carb" diets out there. This one actually does what it says it will do.

That or you could do carb-cycling.

I plan to do the former diet about a year or so from now when I pack on a good base. By that time, I will have some fat that needs trimming.
