Jesus died to break the bands of death and to allow us to repent *the atonement*...In a way it defeats Satan, but not if people aren't willing to accept God.

We were born with eternal life in the spirit, and we are experiencing an incarnation as we speak. Eternal life was a gift from our Creator, not Jesus, who may or may not have even existed. If you look at the world today, I'd say Satan was having a field day, but I don't believe in Satan either. If Jesus did live and die, regardless of the kind of death he had, his death most assuredly defeated those who could have learned about the Torah from him and not Satan, because he was a Rabbi. Consequently, the Jews of the day and the Romans would have never crucified a Rabbi, on the Sabbath, no less, at the start of Passover. So who's defeated? Christian's are.
