Desktop Screen Shots

Everyone has such messy desktops. Does anyone actually take the time to tidy it once and a while??

I'm trying to get my desktop up here but it's quite hard to get the picture in good quality and under 200kb :bugeye:

Here it is, my desktop

Very tidy with WMP9 linked to the taskbar which is very handy as it means I do not have to keep changing windows when i want to change tracks. And it can show a little window for videos about 3cm x 3cm that always stays on top.

The little oval shaped thing in the bottom right is a mood ring for the PC, it shows the mood of the PC. At the moment it is blue which means it is in a good mood. Very simple yet very amusing.

And yes, that chat window is very conveniantly placed over my girlfriends eyes who coincidently I am talking to in that window.
And the references to peeing, it's about a trip we are taking to the wilderness. A nice cabin. Awww.

Enjoy and notice how tidy it is

:)

Edit to add: Please excuse the quality as I had to reshrink it from my resolution to something this forum could handle sizewise

yeah i know raven, arrange icons!!......sorry just a pet peeve

Mine is pretty plain.

Here is my lame assed desk top. I need to spend some time sprucing it up.

My heavily modified XP.

shell - LiteSTEP
skinning - WindowsBlinds
custom icons
res-edited system windows

EDIT: And a small sample of my 111 backgrounds

Thanks. I do alot of my work on my laptop, so I figure it should like nice. Plus I have an excuse for others not to borrow it, cause they don't know how it works:D

Blue% - ROFLMAO!! I know that screen, I used to see it all the time. But an interesting desing nonetheless :)

wesmorris - tsk tsk tsk, way too messy. You're all too messy!!

Persol - I believe I have that same skin for XP, Window Blinds is a great lil peice of kit

In my defense, my install is only a week or two old, I fdisked my main drive a few weeks ago and (obviously) haven't taken the time to customize it much yet. Now I just have to figure out how to hack into Persol's machine and steal his config!

hey man, I hate it when I'm ignorant, but I am so I'll try to fix it: What does "res-edited system windows" mean? I understand the "system windows" and "edited" but I have no clue what "res" is or how that might be used to edit my system windows.

It's an interface to go in and change menus and form layout.

Here's a list of res-editer:http://www.virtualplastic.org/html/art_hack.html
The shareware ones are expensive, but are much better.

That site also goes into detail on other edits too... just make sure to back EVERYTHING up, cause you can hose your system if you give a file the wrong name.

damnit man! that sounds like more of a pain in the ass than it's worth. You should package your stuff up in an installer and shareware it! Come on persol, you know you're dying to bother!

Hehe... I don't have the registered version so I can make packages. Plus, even if I could, I have XP so only people with XP would be able to use them.

But it's not as complicated as you think.
HERE an example of how long it would take to change your IE icons. I set most of my system up on a single rainy sunday.

You could also just get LiteSTEP and WindowBlinds so you can change your desktop.

I would say that packaging it up and putting it in an installer is whats more of a pain than it's worth :D

Nothing in computers is worth having if you didn't have to at least work a little for it. At least someone's written the software for you already. I mean come on...someone actually took the time to write all that source and you can't take the time to use it?

Hey, I just hate doing what's already been done. It seems retarded and redundant... though you're prolly right about the packaging it up thing. Persol already DID all those mods, so why should one have to do the stupid crap again. To me, it's like rewriting the code again for what reason? I'd rather write code that needs writing.... something to perform a function, rather than just appease my (sometimes somewhat lacking) sense of taste. Hehe, oh, and I'm a lazy bastard. That too. Oh, and don't lecture me you bastard. :)

dude! sweet! virtual plastic is excellent. i will be spending a lot of time there.
i always avoided litestep cos lot of tweaking is required (is that correct?)
