Cure HIV and other viruses

I'm experimenting with this thought.
Some people sure know the molecular structure of HIV. If they knew what parts of the virus that is vital. Then some smart people(Like me ;) ) could find out what chemicals binds with these parts. Kind of like finding HIV's cyanide.
Eventually I or others could soak viruses in different chemicals And check if any non-lethal substances will react with HIV.

By the way: My mom knows one person who survived from HIV because the virus became isolated by the body. All of a sudden she tested negative. She can still infect others though.

Sooo... Anyone who has data about the virus' chemistry? Please share thoughts!

i don't know the difference between AIDS and HIV, but HIV can simply be killed by heating it above 40 degrees Celcius. (or just a "flew"). Isn't AIDS some kind of biological weapons, i am not sure of it.

I can't take this place sometimes. Where do these people come from?<P>

Lol! Same thought!!...
Aids/HIV is an STD... If nothing it can NOT be killed by having the flu.

Hercules: I guess they come from a planet of superintelligent people... Withouth spelling- or social knowledge....

Well, bad spelling can be forgiven to an extent when English is not the first language of the poster (as I think is the case here). But I took his/her reference to AIDS being a “biological weapon” is an allusion to the wacko conspiracy theory that the HIV virus is an artificial creation of the US government for its clandestine purposes. I have no time or patience for such lunatics. HIV is a serious problem and all the various HIV/AIDS conspiracy theorists are unhelpful (and a waste of space and resources).<P>

I've wondered about the same exact thing, but I've always assumed it was proven too dangerous or practically impossible in the past.

that’s the way some anti-viral treatment works. But its a lot easier to kill human cells than the virus. (nanobiotechnology might be useful http://www.leaddiscovery.co.uk/admin infect/files/6188.asp)

btw the person hasn't been cured -'A viral load result that reads “undetectable” does not mean that you are cured. It may mean that the level of HIV virus in your blood is below the threshold needed for detection by this test. Other tests that are ultra-sensitive and that can measure as few as 20 to 40 copies in a milliliter of blood can be performed to make sure.' http://www.labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/viral_load/test.html#what

Aren't some people supposedly "immune" to HIV/AIDS but they can still transmit it to others? Its supposed to have some sort of link to the bubonic plauge in Europe back in the middle ages...

yes, kind of, people lacking the CCR-5 gene are immune but I don't think they would transmit it to others (the HIV can't enter cells so I guess it would 'die' http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/evolution/library/10/4/l_104_06.html.

but I don't think this person would have tested postive in the first place if that had been the case...(of interest might also be; A group of prostitutes thought to be immune to HIV have now become infected, causing dismay to scientists hoping to develop an Aids vaccine. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/619316.stm )

Wow! It's hard to believe how someone ever heard of such wive's tale nonsense. No! 40 degrees Celcius will not kill the HIV virus: there is NO KNOWN CURE!

We had an indepth discussion of HIV/AIDS on page 4 called "How do you get AIDS," but I think my postings are worth repeating again here:

According to the United States Center for Disease Control (for further contact information, see bottom of this posting. They are very polite professionals and you don't have to give them your name or anything. You can remain anonymous):

"HIV is passed by semen, presemenal fluid, blood, vaginal secretions, and breast milk.

Even with oral sex there is a high probabilty of contracting HIV, for both males and females, because the semen or vaginal fluid is absorbed through the mucous membranes in your mouth even before it gets down to your stomach. So it is not true that the stomach acids kill the virus before it is absorbed.

It's unlikely, but possible, to get HIV from kissing depending on the intensity and type of kissing, for instance, like French kissing - deep and prolonged. When I questioned the specialist about this she said that it was because of the greater risk of breaking open a membrane lining within the mouth, but it is not transmittable directly through saliva.

You cannot get HIV through mosquito bites or other insects. Despite intensive research on this, even in areas of high HIV populations, mosquitos do not transmit HIV because they do not release any of the blood from the previous victim they injested it from and it exists only for a short time in their interior.

Likewise, when blood, semen, or vaginal secretions are placed on surfaces outside of the body, the virus still exists in the fluid, but not for a prolonged period of time. The specialist had no data on exactly how long it stays active and alive.

You cannot get HIV from masturbating, although it is possible to get HIV from masturbating with a partner if the other persons semen is placed in contact with your own semen, preseminal fluid, blood, or mucous membranes.

HIV is passed directly into your body from sharing HIV contaminated needles and syringes, and this can happen during intravenous drug use, getting a tattoo, or injecting vitamins or steroids."

Our government county health services department puts out a brochure, especially geared toward the education of our young'uns and their health. It specifically states that HIV is transmitted through "semen, blood, and vaginal secretions." This was further varied numerous times through my indepth discussion with one of the specialists at the United States Government Center for Disease Control (CDC), also see below. She also told: "not just semen, but also the preseminal fluid that comes out before ejaculation." They have an extensive database of most all - possibly all - research done in areas of transmittable disease. Again, anyone can call them toll-free at 1-800-342-2437.

Suprisingly to me, the CDC's website also states that the HIV virus is found in small quantities in saliva! But no proof [yet] that it can be transmitted that way:

"HIV has been found in saliva and tears in very low quantities from some AIDS patients. It is important to understand that finding a small amount of HIV in a body fluid does not necessarily mean that HIV can be transmitted by that body fluid. HIV has not been recovered from the sweat of HIV-infected persons. Contact with saliva, tears, or sweat has never been shown to result in transmission of HIV."

"Although HIV has been transmitted between family members in a household setting, this type of transmission is very rare. These transmissions are believed to have resulted from contact between skin or mucous membranes and infected blood."

"Kissing: Casual contact through closed-mouth or "social" kissing is not a risk for transmission of HIV. Because of the potential for contact with blood during "French" or open-mouth kissing [greater risk of breaking the linings of mucous membranes in the mouth], CDC recommends against engaging in this activity with a person known to be infected. However, the risk of acquiring HIV during open-mouth kissing is believed to be very low. CDC has investigated only one case of HIV infection that may be attributed to contact with blood during open-mouth kissing."
http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/pubs/facts/transmission.htm

"Can I get HIV from oral sex?"

Yes, it is possible for either partner to become infected with HIV through performing or receiving oral sex. There have been a few cases of HIV transmission from performing oral sex on a person infected with HIV. While no one knows exactly what the degree of risk is, evidence suggests that the risk is less than that of unprotected anal or vaginal sex.

If the person performing oral sex has HIV, blood from their mouth may enter the body of the person receiving oral sex through:

1) the lining of the urethra (the opening at the tip of the penis);
2) the lining of the vagina or cervix;
3) the lining of the anus; or
4) directly into the body through small cuts or open sores.

If the person receiving oral sex has HIV, their blood, semen (cum), pre-seminal fluid (pre-cum), or vaginal fluid may contain the virus. Cells lining the mouth of the person performing oral sex may allow HIV to enter their body.

The risk of HIV transmission increases:

1) if the person performing oral sex has cuts or sores around or in their mouth or throat;
2) if the person receiving oral sex ejaculates in the mouth of the person performing oral sex; or
3) if the person receiving oral sex has another sexually transmitted disease (STD).

Not having (abstaining from) sex is the most effective way to avoid HIV.

If you choose to perform oral sex, and your partner is male, use a latex condom on the penis; or if you or your partner is allergic to latex, plastic (polyurethane) condoms can be used. Studies have shown that latex condoms are very effective, though not perfect, in preventing HIV transmission when used correctly and consistently. If either partner is allergic to latex, plastic (polyurethane) condoms for either the male or female can be used. For more information about latex condoms, see "Male Latex Condoms and Sexually Transmitted Diseases."

If you choose to have oral sex, and your partner is female, use a latex barrier (such as a natural rubber latex sheet, a dental dam or a cut-open condom that makes a square) between your mouth and the vagina. A latex barrier such as a dental dam reduces the risk of blood or vaginal fluids entering your mouth. Plastic food wrap also can be used as a barrier.

If you choose to perform oral sex with either a male or female partner and this sex includes oral contact with your partners anus (analingus or rimming), use a latex barrier (such as a natural rubber latex sheet, a dental dam or a cut-open condom that makes a square) between your mouth and the anus. Plastic food wrap also can be used as a barrier."

No, Valich, it's not so hard to believe. The sad truth is that the average person pays little or no attention to medical and other technical information that is released to the public.

They are happier (because it's much easier - takes no effort at thinking and reasoning) to rely on what others in their circle of friends tell them about subjects like that. And that is also one of the basic reasons why conspiracy theories often take such deep roots. "The blind leading the blind" is very much a fact of life.

Enigma isn't it interesting but I was thinking the same thing viri aren't alive. One more thing you get a lot of facts from different agencies about the different bodily fluids and HIV transmission. Our local health department has a training book "for staff eyes only" that lists all bodily fluids as possible vectors for transmission, hence universal precautions. It does say that saliva and tears have an extremely low chance of infecting someone. It also said at the right temp HIV can stay active for up to 3 days in fluid spills...once again universal precautions. I don't have any secret answers I've just know I've gotten different "facts" from different sourcesand I know I'll chose to er on the side of caution. Be extremely careful.

Wow.... so how do people lack the CCR-5 gene

Just eat alot of white amanitas(fly argic) :D ... No CCR-5 gene!... No other genes either!

Disclaimer: It seems some people here have a great lack of knowledge, so I have to say; THIS IS A FUCKING JOKE(if you don't know what fucking means Darwins ghost will hunt you down and kill you  )

PS: It may also be that we NEED the HIV-virus to protect us from over-population!... Until we have a solution wear condom!

Or even a cure!! :O

Summary: This gene encodes a member of the beta chemokine receptor family, which is predicted to be a seven transmembrane protein similar to G protein-coupled receptors. This protein is expressed by T cells and macrophages, and is known to be an important co-receptor for macrophage-tropic virus, including HIV, to enter host cells. Defective alleles of this gene have been associated with the HIV infection resistance. The ligands of this receptor include monocyte chemoattractant protein 2 (MCP-2), macrophage inflammatory protein 1 alpha (MIP-1 alpha), macrophage inflammatory protein 1 beta (MIP-1 beta) and regulated on activation normal T expressed and secreted protein (RANTES). Expression of this gene was also detected in a promyeloblastic cell line, suggesting that this protein may play a role in granulocyte lineage proliferation and differentiation. This gene is located at the chemokine receptor gene cluster region.

Those treatment medications inhibit HIV maturation and are partial solution to the problem. The problem is that they don't clean HIV entirely from the body.
-NRTIs (nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors)
-NNRTIs (Non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors)
-PIs (Protease inhibitors)
-Entry Inhibitors

P.S.
weebee nice article ...

In Praise of Anal Sex

This world has long since become too crowded, and the balance of ecosystem is in peril. Only haters of life want to sustain excess human population — that is why to support Death is to support life. Death is also the central element of eugenics: if we want to preserve quality, we must trim down the quantity. Unfortunately, there are no real practical means to engage in effective mass-extermination project, thanks to those troublesome humanists.

If we lived in balance with nature, there even wouldn't be any need for such operation: nature namely has plethora of mechanisms of its own to keep populations in balance. HIV is one of those. If it wasn't for those bloody humanist retards, people stupid enough to engage in unprotected sex and use dirty syringes, would get infected, then rejected from any reasonable society and left to die. Drugs and medicine only make the situation worse, as stupid people may now kept alive and breeding.

Support life, support AIDS. Support AIDS, support anal sex.

Hail life! Hail ANAL! <3

Even if there would come a (partial) cure for HIV, the virus itself is still far from beaten. The rate it mutates is very fast and it may soon change to use different means to infect cells.
