Creationists declare war over the brain

"YOU cannot overestimate," thundered psychiatrist Jeffrey Schwartz, "how threatened the scientific establishment is by the fact that it now looks like the materialist paradigm is genuinely breaking down. You're gonna hear a lot in the next calendar year about... how Darwin's explanation of how human intelligence arose is the only scientific way of doing it... I'm asking us as a world community to go out there and tell the scientific establishment, enough is enough! Materialism needs to start fading away and non-materialist causation needs to be understood as part of natural reality."

According to proponents of ID, the "hard problem" of consciousness - how our subjective experiences arise from the objective world of neurons - is the Achilles heel not just of Darwinism but of scientific materialism.

Zzzzzzzz...

Perhaps if we didn't have a brain, and were still intelligent beings... then we do indeed give merits to a non-physical origin to our consciousness.

This guy can bleat all he wants - Science is not threatened by his silly mystical explanations. This is the type of idiot that would have probably called rainbows an act of god before science was able to explain it.

Carico,

So prove his statement wrong ....
Here is the essence of the ID position against science ...

According to proponents of ID, the "hard problem" of consciousness - how our subjective experiences arise from the objective world of neurons - is the Achilles heel not just of Darwinism but of scientific materialism.
The IDists make the mistake of trying to assert that science can NEVER solve this problem, there is no basis for that.

It is a "hard" problem not necessarily an impossible one. Until ID can show it is impossible and/or can show that something immaterial is possible then they have nothing to support their position.
