No single common idea
Cris
Not all religions need supernatural components.
Seriously, how would you describe American behavior in the War on Terror? It looks an awful lot like a Church of Our Nation.
There is no single common idea found in every religion.
We have come too far as humans, have grown over that portion of our roots. Maybe once there existed a common idea linking all people in some arcane way, but I couldn't tell you what it was.
thanx,

If I disagree with this criterion, it is because in America we have "personality cults", the "church of baseball", and there is a definite religious-type fervor (very cultish) to the jingoistic trends I've known all my life as an American. (Come on ... you're down by The Valley, aren't you? You remember Microserfs, don't you? Not to pull the age-ism, but you've been around long enough to remember the true and original Microserfs?)1. A dependence on a supernatural component.
