They have done as expected so far, so this is your reason to believe or hope that they will continue to do so.
In all those cases you mention above, you had some reason to believe or hope that things will work out as you wish,
and that reason is based on your previous experience or knowledge of functional brakes, careful people crossing streets and the sun rising.
Or do you wish to argue for practical absurdism - that people's faith in everyday life matters is completely absurd?
They drive to work - even though they have no proof that the building with their office still exists.
Perhaps, due to lack of proof, they should just stay home? Oh, but then they would have completley unfounded faith that their house has not collapsed and that the sofa they intend to sit on is not going to break to pieces.
