Can U handle truth?

Corp.

Getting back to the necessity for secrecy. Nobody is expecting Microsoft to reveal the algorithms behind their OS kernel. Yet, we all know it exists, right? So, I argue the government should do the same. It should tell us specifically what it is working on, what the thing will be used for, and (in very crude terms) how it will accomplish its goal. The government should also tell us how much we are paying for the thing. What they should probably withhold is actual detailed engineering info. But the general public doesn't care about that sort of stuff anyway. All I'm saying is that the government is supposed to be accountable. And how can it possibly be accountable when it is hidden behind a curtain of deadly secrecy?

As for covert ops... That type of secrecy is only useful in war. Otherwise, we risk turning even peace time into a martial regime.
