Arthur C. Clarke dies at 90

Hmmm, it would appear that we have completely different world views making fruitful communication difficult. ANyway...

(You appeared not to notice that I left no. 2 out of my response, I'm sure you can work out why)

All of them,

1) the business community would not have it power if people were not put off my future shock, the ability to pander to people about what they would like to be true over what is actually true would not be possible without their understand of science and reasoning be damage by future shock.
Not at all. The business community has power because they make things, get the rules fixed to suit them, and are active economically. This has nothing to do with future shock.

3) Again rather then blame politicians people see this as a failing of science, again future shock.
No, that is not future shock, that is effectively the same as you, as a small child, being promised an ice cream at the end of a long hot walk. Instead, you get a small bit of chocolate. This is not future shock.

4) Again peoples regression from science and that the cycle is self feeding postive loop as science become increasingly hard to understand as they become increasingly ignorate and shy away from it
You'r response does not answer my point, therefore I assume it is correct, and you don't understand what I meant.

5) Again why do people become religious and fight each other, because they strayed from science.
No, you will note that there are less religious people around. INstead they are fighting a valiant rearguard which nevertheless fouls up a lot of things, from stem cell research to abortion. Science has nothing to say on the topic of religion, except when religious believers make comments about the world which are scientifically testable. (Eg I can make my child better by prayer. Oops, they just died. Or, "I can fly thanks to my belief, and to prove it I shall jump off this clidd" *splat*, or "The earth was created in 4004BC, and I'm going to ignore the entirety of modern science to make that claim)
Now, some people will cling to their religion as they face future shock, but that is not the be all and end all of it.

6) that is the descriptor of future shock.
Not as far as I can remember, although it is a few years since I read it. Have you read it recently?

Future shock is not how a individual reacts to processes out pacing their ability to react but rather it about how societies react, and much of what was predicted in the books decades ago has come true.

Ummmmm, really? I'm sure you'll be able to give proper evidence.

why did he live in Ceylon anyways?? Just liked it or did he have other reasons?
I thought it was because he liked it. I don't remember if I have a biography of Clarke in my library.
He probably moved also because he appears to have been homosexual, and Britain before the 90's was not a nice place to be homosexual.

From Charles Stross:
"I don't believe you can generalize from Clarke to SF writers in general. My understanding is that Clarke is not only homosexual but left the UK in a hurry in the early 1960s, one jump ahead of an arrest warrant – I may be misinformed in this, but it would explain why he didn't return for nearly forty years."

Communication that fine, arguing, no I'm not going to argue over this. Yes there are many factors, but their are fewer underlying social trends which make those factors possible, future shock be the primary one.

He was well known for being poor at representing human relationships. There is a definite lack of sex and characters having romances. Which at the time he started writing was perfectly normal anyway.

Diving underwatre involves an air supply, wetsuit etc. Have you tried getting them onto someone who effectively has no motor control?

If you can't get a wet suit on someone who has no motor control, how do they get clothes on him?
