Just to get a general idea, if you're not religous no need to bother.

So much for being the 'good' book, it condemns most of mankind to an enternity of horror and torture

Yes...He essentially is going to torture us forever for being just as screwed-up as He made us...and He is supposed to be good?

See as a Pagan...my contention is that Jehovah is not the only deity, and, no He's not good. He's evil and a liar.
Which is actually the Gnostic church's position, I understand.

Jehovah's also not in control of the weather. On my continent, try Thunderbird. In Europe, dial Lleu, Thor Or Zeus.:D

I could go for the idea that hell is an interior state...on the other hand, the mind breaks after a certain amount of pain, whether that pain is physical or mental.

Hmm. Hell could be a state of being and/or a state of mind, but the bible variously interprets it as being a physical/metaphysical realm to which the soul is condemned. That seems awfully un-christian to me, but then God is variously said to be jealous, angry, wrathful, forgiving, loving and omnipotent. He sounds pretty mixed-up to me and probably needs a bit of therapy..

Are we supposed to take these concepts literally? Sometimes they're philosophical, sometimes they're 'real' places. Is it a metaphysical way bf being, and would a metaphysical existence require a planet to sustain it?
