Animals would exist without bacteria?

I would bring up two factors for playing devils advocate and were perhaps the basis of the OP:

1. The original bacteria remains.

Actually, I'm not sure that they do, except in the broadest sense. I think it would be hard to say that they were either different or the same.
 
Is there some dude somewhere in Europe who kept 20 years worth of bacterial cultures in the freezer that were exposed to some specific environment.

The bacteria in the end were not the same as in the beginning. Why would it be different for poop bacteria.
