Ancient monster whale more fearsome than Moby Dick

Let me repeat what I said about small balean whales. They were without doubt a massive food supply. Today, there are at least 500,000 Mincke Whales in the oceans, and possibly more. Before human hunting of whales, that number would have been millions.

A Mincke Whale grows to 6 metres (20 feet) long. It is more than a meal for our hunter. And there were heaps of them!

The researchers in the OP's reference stated that they considered small balean whales to be the food source, and it makes more sense than anything else stated on this thread.
