World Cup 2010 - one thread to rule them all

I watched part of a match last night on TV. The noise from the horns was non-stop. Irritating and distracting and just plain obnoxious.

Why do people in soccer crowds think it is about them and not about the soccer?

probably the same reason people act like twats at any sporting event alcohol.

I don't mind the constant drone of the vuvuzelas, at least it shows the crowd are having fun which only adds to the big match atmosphere. It's much worse if the crowd are sitting silent.

Well done the to USA btw, sure it was a lucky goal but they had a couple of decent chances and England have only themselves to blame for not winning. Heskey might be good at some things but his striking is rubbish.

Are you going to watch tonight?
Uh.. that would be Monday morning for you..

What do you guys think of today's match? My prediction:

Germany - Australia: 2-1
Serbia - Ghana: 2-1

Don't edit your post after the result come out plz ^^

Yes Monday morning Enmos 4.20 AM ( ouch).I'll be watching Australia vs Germany.
Germany is claiming they will embarrass Australia. They should win and by a comfortable margin, they won't embarrass us, they're probably in for a bit of a rude shock and trash talking in a game like soccer often ends up badly. They won't be the first to take us too lightly and the likes of Vinne Grella will let them know that to underestimate us is to find yourself limping off the field.

Good work by Slovenia to put pressure on England and the USA...England should walk through Algeria but Slovenia will be a challenge for the Americans.

Germany ALWAYS up their game in the World Cup finals, yes they sometimes struggle but win or lose against the Aussies I still think they will make it to the quarters at least.
That said, I hope the Aussies smash them!

First 30 minutes, so far is 2-0 for Germany o_O

Ouuuuccchhhh I made wrong prediction it seems!! Come on Aussy, score 1 goal, so my prediction will come true!! :D

O mein Gottttttt...........!!! 70th minute and 4:0 for Deutschland :xctd: Also, 3 yellow cards and 1 red card, all for the Australian

Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Spud EMperor please don't cry ^^

Perfect and Fantastic. :worship::bravo:

*watching interview with Miroslav Klose*... hoooo.. the guy is very humble "sure, we are happy, but we haven't won yet, we have to concentrate on the next game first...."

Oooouuuuoooooo...... ok, gute Nacht, ihr alle!!!

I'm not crying Killer.

And before I comment further, can all the Germans repeat after me " The wicked witch winged her way westward"

...Vott!!.. no, no not ;Zee vicked vitch winged her vay vestvard!!

Anyvay, Vere vas I? Yes a disappointing effort from Aus. It actually was embarrassing, no problem losing to a superior team but the way they dropped their bundle was extremely disappointing. In the first 10 minutes we came out with intent and even some verve, then we just looked shellshocked. This is not like our team. In the last eight to ten years we have always been underdogs on the world scene (this is far from our national sport) and have acquitted ourselves with aplomb and taken some huge scalps. Not last night.

It was embarrassing, for both teams, Australia's effort and Germany for trying to get away with cheating. Two yellow cards to Germany both for diving ( that's cheating guys, always was, always will be). I was so impressed with the Mexican Ref for not tolerating that bullshit. That kind of cheating is a national disgrace in Australia ( I'm not saying Australian players who play in Europe never do it, they get tainted but on home soil it's culturally abhorrent).
So major embarrassment for Germany and some for Australia.
We're not out yet but some soul searching to do.

Germany look like contenders as do Argentina a this point.

!

Hmmmm!

I don't know what happened to the Aussies, Germany were very clinical but 4-0 is a crazy score! I put it down to the harsh Cahill sending off, a straight red was over the top but Schweinsteiger had been fouled a few times before that so perhaps the ref was trying to protect him?

Who knows, whatever, move on.

Good luck to the Orange today, I'd love to see them lift the World Cup. I also hope Cameroon win today and at least make the last 16.
