World Cup 2010 - one thread to rule them all

sorry for you, emnos :(
it was really no beautiful game and i was quite happy when it was over. robben seems to be addicted to the smell of grass. he´s a great and nice player, but he´s really falling too often. same goes for most spanish players, you only need to look strange at them and they already go down. the ref lost pretty soon control of the game. spain doesn´t deserve the title, they don´t even had at least one nice game.
but well, at least they can enjoy some days and forget for a short time that they are deep in trouble :)

hup holland hup, maybe next time :D

Of course the Dutch dive too, but I don't think they have much of a choice if the ref allows the other team to do it. If you're the only one playing fair you'll never win the cup these days, that's the sad reality.
But really, the Spanish dived a whole lot more than most any other team did this tournament.
Thanks Webb!

Alright, I'm not talking about it anymore. What's done is done..

Final Euro 2012: Germany - The Netherlands :D

Final score (not that it matters much anymore):

Um, the spanish were diving constantly and then asking the ref for a card. Now that's shameful.
So were the Dutch.
It was off-side because Iniesta was in active play the first time he got the ball. The linesman should have flagged it off.
Erm, no he really wasn't, if you pause the replay you can see the last dutch player is goalside of him when the ball is passed. They did this on TV and put a line up to show it, but it's quite clear anyway. Regardless he never recieved the ball first time as it was cut out by the defender, under the revised law the linesman doesn't have to raise the flag until a player receives the ball. I agree this causes confusion and isn't a good addition to the law, but regardless all that happened in that half of the field was entirely correct.
But worst of all, the off-side situation shouldn't have arisen in the first place because The Netherlands deserved to get a corner kick when the free kick was deflected by a spanish player just seconds before the goal.
Happens all the time, whilst it was a poor decision there were others in the game that favoured the Dutch. How far back should we go saying x should have happened so y wouldn't have?
Both sides played filthy and I think the Spanish were slightly better, but that doesn't change the fact that that goal shouldn't have happened.
But it also doesn't change De Jongs Karate kick on Alonso, or Van Bommels constant fouling that, not for the first time this tournament, could have got 4+ yellow cards or even a straight red. That's without considering any other bad tackles or Robben kicking the ball away and getting a talking to, but later on this was a booking for the Spainish player(Xavi?) who did the same! (I suspect it was because Robben had already been booked).
The ref was poor, and in doing his best to keep 11vs11 probably made the game worse, overall I don't think the Dutch can feel hard done by as they had the best of it.

As the saying goes, the sign of a good team is winning games when you're playing poorly. ;)
At the end of the day it's a knockout tournament, no points for playing pretty and losing like Germany, Brazil or Argentina.

No, the pass to him before that was offside. Look, it's over and I don't feel like arguing over this. Like I said, what's done is done.
Better luck next time, hopefully.

Well whatever makes you feel better I guess.

That doesn't make me feel better at all lol :p

I was on a date last night and my companion asked me if I wanted to 'go Dutch' on a restaurant bill. So I raked my studs down
her chest, harangued the maître d' and then left in tears…

:p
