Russ, wow that sux, the one thing I always say is get to know the girl, don't be suckered in, it could mean your future one day...do some real digging into her past, her friends, her family, don't just marry her cause shes hot ,,,you could end up seriously regreting it!

You're making the fallacious assumption that our justice system is rational.

Besides, poverty level for a one-person family--as defined by the same government that provides that splendid justice system--is something like $12K. He has way more than that left over.

More seriously, if that were a kid you knew personally, would you want his parents spending less than $10K a year on him? Or would you tell them to suck it up and stay married?

People should not have children unless they've signed an oath in blood that they will stay married no matter what. Period. Some things are just more important than other things. Life isn't fair but it should be least unfair to children.

That said, it should be made far more difficult to get married--or at least to have kids. It takes more qualifications to get a driver's license than a marriage license. And anyone with a functional reproductive system can become a parent. It's disgusting.

I agree he owes it to his kid but, he was also stuck with her car payment while defaulting on his own. Here's the kicker: Her mother is an ultra wealthy real estate broker who paid to have 3 attorneys stick it to him (Why 3 I'll never know). She left him to marry a millionaire who owns an ambulance service.
 
She also moved (illegally) and violated his parental rights by not giving him his time.

there is something about a genuinely sweet girl that just makes me melt. there was a girl in my physics class (we are friends now) who, when she saw me not being able to find my homework, said "whats wrong" and when I told her, she gave that sympathetic "ohh/awe" thing. its not just that, but I could tell she really cared that I was having problems, even if they were just an unorganized notebook.
