Much better! You're learning. You could have also added "Hey Mac, the 80's called and they want their hairstyle back" :)

Woah woah, he has a flat learning curve, lets take it a step at a time! He need to learn to walk before he can run.

P.S. Your "troll" comments are hilarious ;)

And aren't the Beach Boys from the Soviet Union or czarst Russia or something like that?

As Dwyddyr mentioned, the Beach Boys are from Norway, which was of course part of the Soviet Union until WWII, when the USA invaded Scandanavia and annexed it (with help from the Ottoman Empire, of course). The Soviet leader, Adolph Hitler, of course wasn't happy about this, which is why he started the Vietnam war against NATO. Obviously.

Pfffft!! Like anyone who chooses a username based on an outdated, unpopular, obsolete 4-speaker sound system could ever teach ME anything about history. Nice try 4 speaker man. Try joining the 21th century with Dolby!

:)

lets console ourselves with some great american music from a great american band

The Rolling Stones : Sympathy For The Devil
:roflmao:
Okay, Gustav, I'm taking you off my ignore list...at least for now...

Nah, I'm way too retro for that. I've actually switched back to mono. I just have this one huge horn speaker, made out of wood, that takes up an entire room. And I play records on it using one of those ancient machines that uses the tube-shaped records and has to be hand-cranked.

These days my biggest concern is whether to replace my smartphone with a telegraph, or just go all the way to smoke signals.

No, the Beach Boys were from Norway, but they became naturalised US citizens after the US successfully invaded Norway in WWII.

And to think, we didn't bring home most of the women:

What on EARTH were we thinking?!?!!?

As ex House Captain of the Rugby Team when I was at 6th Form (High School to our US cousins), please feel free to tell me why the game I was playing was just 'Rugby' and not 'Rugby Football' when the rules were developed in Rugby, (a place) from the game of Football, and was then known as 'Rugby Football'.

Non UK people who are not aware Rugby is a place, might not make the association, so do not need the matter clarifying, and in context, it's easy to understand one is referring to the game, when one says 'he's a Rugby player', but that does not detract from the fact that the full, original name for the game, is 'Rugby Football',

Ok. You got me. Rugby is offically called Rugby Football. It was, as you point out, called that in order to distinguish it from all other forms of football being played at the time, in the same way that football/soccer was called Association Football.

However, as you also point out, it is easy to understand that when one is referring to rugby now they are talking about rugby football. The distinctions made are now within the game of rugby, (union/league) and no longer is rugby a sport that needs the differences between it and football/soccer overtly spelt out. It is a sport in it's own right and has no need to make that distinction necessary. I mean, as captain of your school's team, (congrats on that btw...that's a pretty big achievement at a school synonomous with the game ), how many times have you asked anybody if they wanted a game of rugby football? It seems alien to me. I played football for my school and never once did I ever hear anyone ask me if I wanted a game of association football.

If any game in the world that has the word football in it's offical name has the right to be called just football, it's association football for the simple reason that it is the only game in which the foot is the only appendage that is allowed to be used, (specialists notwithstanding). Other forms of football should be the ones making their differences obvious from it, be it American or, if you want, rugby. I don't think rugby does need it since it has already undergone a schism within it's self and when referring to rugby football it's still not clear what game you're actually talking about (union or league). But, hey, if you really want it I won't argue with you.

P.S. To the poster saying that football in Ireland is refered to as soccer: it bloody well isn't! The governing body is called the FIA.

I count about a dozen uses of the term "soccer" on the linked homepage. And about the only places where I see the term "football" used, is in the phrase "association football" or "football association" - which is exactly what "soccer" is an abreviation for to begin with.

Really? I only see one reference to "soccer". For a camp for kids. None at all to "association football". "Football association" is not the same thing as "association football". I see numerous references to "football".

There is another type of football here called Gaelic football but when a distinction needs to be made it is soccer that is referred to as football and Gaelic football is referred to as gaa. Otherwise both are called football.

J/k Red :)

Ok..I'll stop now. Dywyddyr just threatened me with a cricket bat. Anyone want to take bets that the troll won't come back after his 3 day banning? I think his ADD will kick in before that. :)

And usually made by foreign directors, with foreign scriptwriters and foreign actors. Or based on previously-made foreign films.

I can not agree with you more.
