Why U.S.A is the best country in the world.

Here are my reasons. Feel free to contribute.

1: We're number 1 in most sports; baseball, basketball, football, soccer, running*other Olympic types of sport*.

2: We have the best, most influential economy. America has a crisis, the rest of the world has a crisis.

3: We have the most rights/freedom.

4: Our government is proven to be the most caring for its people.

5: We have the best music. The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, SlipKnot, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Lil Wayne*And all the other best rap/r&m artists*, Michael Jackson, etc.

6: Most powerful/successful army in history.

7: Most diversity.

8: Best movies in the world.

9: Best scientists/ most modern inventions and breakthroughs.

Reply if you know any other reasons ;D

1. Sports... maybe, but we aren't the best at soccer, and some Latin Americans and Japanese are better at baseball.

2. The biggest economy, but certainly not the best managed.

3. Rights/ Freedoms... not even close. I've been to some European nations where I felt much more free.

4. Most caring government? Are you high? We have no national health care except for emergencies. We have many politicians that are trying to destroy the welfare state.

That depends on which definition of 'Football' you want to use.
In many parts of the world, Football = Rugby, and South Africa currently holds the Rugby World Cup, the USA failed to get past the pool stages.

Soccer (which you have also listed) is also refered to as football (to confuse matters), currently, Spain hold the Football (FIFA) World Cup, and so far the best the USA have done is place 3rd in 1930.

2: We have the best, most influential economy. America has a crisis, the rest of the world has a crisis.
This may or may not be true, certainly here at least our markets are more strongly tied to the Asian markets, and recently the NZ Dollar has reached post float highs against the US.

3: We have the most rights/freedom.
No. There are a number of countries in the world, including New Zealand, that rank higher than the US in personal freedom, freedom of the press, economic freedom, civil liberties, and so on and so forth.

4: Our government is proven to be the most caring for its people.
And yet you can't even get universal healthcare.

5: We have the best music. The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, SlipKnot, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Lil Wayne*And all the other best rap/r&m artists*, Michael Jackson, etc.
As has been pointed out, several artists on that list are not American, and personally I'd rate Crowded House, The Headless Chickens, Supergroove, and Neil & Tim Finn well above Slipknot.

6: Most powerful/successful army in history.
I lack a verifiable source, for the moment, however the RNZAF successfully defeated a US carrier group in a joint exercise. My recollection is that it would have been at least thirty years ago, because the US stormed off in a hissy fit and suspended their ANZUS obligations to NZ when the NZ government - following the will of the people, as should happen in a democracy, told the US that it did not want ships carrying Nuclear weapons in NZ territorial waters, and requested that they either declare which (if any) were, or remove themselves from our territory, and have maintained this stance inspite of the US bullying us.

7: Most diversity.
This might actually be true, but I find the assertion questionable, and it lacks supporting evidence.

8: Best movies in the world.
By who's measure?
LOTR was filmed in NZ, by a New Zealander. Dam Busters is being remade in NZ, by the same New Zealander, Willow was made in NZ, as was 'The Silent Earth'.

9: Best scientists/ most modern inventions and breakthroughs.
Albert Einstein was (at best) a German Immigrant, and only settled in the US (gaining residency in 1940) at the age of 54 in 1933 during a visit.
Here's two other names for you to google:
Richard Pearse.
Ernest Rutherford.

Oh, and Mad Anthony, could please edit your post and change the inline NSFW image to a NSFW link, for those of us that are, you know... At work :*)

In many parts of the world, Football = Rugby

? Like where? I've never heard that usage, except from Americans who confuse Aussie Rules Football with Rugby.

Soccer (which you have also listed) is also refered to as football

Only a small minority of native English speakers call soccer "football." They're known as "the British."

And let's note that "soccer" is short for "association football" in the first place.

(to confuse matters), currently, Spain hold the Football (FIFA) World Cup, and so far the best the USA have done is place 3rd in 1930.

It's pretty sexist to ignore the USA women's squad's history of winning World Cups and Olympic Golds. Not to mention their 2nd place finish in this year's World Cup.

Soccer, like volleyball, being a women's sport, in the USA.

Albert Einstein was (at best) a German Immigrant, and only settled in the US (gaining residency in 1940) at the age of 54 in 1933 during a visit.

You guys capitalize "Immigrant?"

Anyway, moving to the USA at whatever age has never been a disqualifier of nationality. If anything, it probably says more about the USA that Einstein chose to immigrate here, than if he'd been born here.

But the troll didn't specify Einstein, so why are you invoking him as if it proves anything to the point about best scientists/technology? Nobody is even close to the USA in that department.

Rugby football on Wiki
Although that link tends to suggest that calling rugby football 'Football' is a Kiwi quirk more than anything else
(addendum)
In the UK they have the Rugby Football Union (RFU) which spread with the game, and even the IRB was originally called the IRFB.

Seems to be a little more widespread than that.

Just as 'Rugby' is an short for "rugby football" (after the school that originated the game).

You wound me. You know me better than that quad. There is an alternative - either a pure stuffup on my part, or a demonstration of how closely I follow(ed) the olympics.

But sexist?

Soccer, like volleyball, being a women's sport, in the USA.
Really? o_O
I'm fairly sure we have mixed amature teams here.
I'll give credit where it's due though, the American womans soccer team is successfull, but the German womans soccer team is equally successfull, and to be perfectly honest, on those grounds I would have to rate the Germans as being better at Soccer than the US, because their womans team is as successful as the US, but their mens team is more succesful than the US.

You guys capitalize "Immigrant?"
Probably not, no. I occasionally capitalize odd things while I type, and generally go back and correct them, or occasionally change my sentence structure (or entire portions of my post), but occasionally miss things such as that (in other words, consider it a typo).

Anyway, moving to the USA at whatever age has never been a disqualifier of nationality. If anything, it probably says more about the USA that Einstein chose to immigrate here, than if he'd been born here.
Naww, consider the alternative - for a prominent jew, espousing pacifist, and communist philosophies, returning to a Hitler led Germany, and an impotent Europe which he is posturing to invade (sorry, liberate).

But the troll didn't specify Einstein, so why are you invoking him as if it proves anything to the point about best scientists/technology? Nobody is even close to the USA in that department.
For now :).
I invoke Einstein because he reflects how the US got ahead of Europe and the UK - the US benefited from the situation set up in pre-war europe, by Hitler led Germany, that resulted in a pre-war brain drain.

I'll refrain from commenting further on the current situation because I have a very low opinion of the steps taken by the Senate oversight committees in the name of 'saving money' so that they can 'pay off' their debt.

Okay, Jamaica was an oversight - but you're really going to posit countries like Pakistan and Cameroon as "native English speaking?"

The alternative would have been for him to immigrate to any number of other countries - it wasn't a strict choice between the USA and Germany. He chose the USA over many safe, welcoming alternatives, several of whom were courting him rather actively.

For now :).

For well over a century, now.

I invoke Einstein because he reflects how the US got ahead of Europe and the UK - the US benefited from the situation set up in pre-war europe, by Hitler led Germany, that resulted in a pre-war brain drain.

Except that the USA was already ahead by that point - that's why that brain drain went to the USA, rather than elsewhere. Thomas Edison was already dead by the time Einstein showed up, and Tesla - another famous immigrant scientist to America - was likewise over here before the first World War. Go check out the history of the development of telephones, radio, power, etc. - the "brain drain" was already running vigorously by the latter half of the 19th century.

That was your assertion - my assertion was (only) that there were a number of countries that used the term.

The alternative would have been for him to immigrate to any number of other countries - it wasn't a strict choice between the USA and Germany. He chose the USA over many safe, welcoming alternatives, several of whom were courting him rather actively.
I wasn't suggesting it was - remember, I mentioned Europe as well. I presented it as a three way choice - Emigrating from Germany to the US, versus emigrating elsewhere in Europe, versus returning to Germany.

Yes, the first wireless connection between the US and Europe was setup by Kaiser Wilhelm II, Maxwell was Scottish, Hertz was German, Marconi was Italian, von Steinheil was German, Preece was british, as was Lindsay. Faraday experimented with wireless telegraphy, Calzecchi-Onesti (italian) developed the coherer, which Tesla later improved upon. Slaby was German, as was von Arco.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not diminsihing Teslas work, however it does not exist in a vacuum.

Either hopelessly indoctrinated or trolling.

The usa is the best country in the world in the category "having their citizens make a fool of themselves on the internet for our enjoyment".

Proof: this thread.

We have perfected the mass-production of stupid.

*bows*

And...you're welcome.:D

1: We're number 1 in most sports; baseball, basketball, football, soccer, running*other Olympic types of sport*.

Baseball is a sport? I never knew that ;) jks

Anyways, running is not a sport, its track competition.

5: We have the best music. The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, SlipKnot, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Lil Wayne*And all the other best rap/r&m artists*, Michael Jackson, etc.

Beatles are British, correct me if I am wrong ;)

If you said Eminem, Wiz Khalifa, 2Pac, the Notorious B.I.G., Dr. Dre, or even B.o.b. etc. I won't debate this...

Lil Wayne would be working at McDonalds if pac and biggie were alive.

P.S. I am also pretty sure when you said R&M you meant the R&B crap that my girlfriend listens to...

7: Most diversity.

Lol...take a look at Canada up north.

8: Best movies in the world.

Foreign directors and actors :D

Reply if you know any other reasons ;D

I got one, USA is SECOND best because: Canada is up north. You guys can share some spotlight in Canadian glory.

O Canada!

Still an artificial, unsupportable restriction. He could have moved to Canada, or to South America, or to Australia, or any number of other places.

He also could have moved back to Europe once the Reich was defeated. He also probably could have hooked up a post somewhere in neutral Switzerland. He chose instead to become a US citizen and remain here for the rest of his life - and had some choice words to say about US culture vs. European culture, when it comes to intellectual achievement, if you care to look them up.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not diminsihing Teslas work, however it does not exist in a vacuum.

Never said it did. Well, other than the "vacuum" that was sucking brains out of Europe and into the USA generations before Hitler was even born.

3: We have the most rights/freedom.

4: Our government is proven to be the most caring for its people.

Here are two political responses, separated from my other responses.

I am pretty sure a lot of Scandinavian democracies are more free then the USA post-George W. Bush.

I think Canada is more free then the United States right now...

Don't forget Amsterdam...

ALSO

Take a good close look at the US government...take a close look...do they look caring to you?

Either hopelessly indoctrinated or trolling.

I am (presently) of the opinion that he is not, in fact, trolling--which makes this all the more delightful! I strongly suggest taking a few minutes to peruse all of his posts, for they've provided me with many a good laugh today; of course, this one takes the cake:
I'm also pretty sure The Beatles were from Seattle, so...yeeeh, hate to show you up but you might want to check your facts, lol.
:D

I suppose he could be trolling, but then it's not as funny.

I play Football, I play competitive rep Rugby and I played Soccer a long time ago...

Oh yeah, rugby is Rugby Football, not football.

But do you know what I think? I think real football is American Football, Rugby is Rugby Football, and Soccer is people pretending to get hurt.
