Why is gun control so difficult in the US?

Without prejudice, I would call that a strawman argument as posited. You'll need to identify what is being echoed.

"Democrats just think some rights only apply to those with money." - that's a sentiment being circulated in the right wing echo chamber, in an attempt to combat all the benefits recently given to the rich by the GOP.

Well, it's true isn't it? I believe it has a name "Corporate Welfare"?

They wouldn't be armed if they didn't fear something, I'm asking what that is.
Paranoia?
That's not fear of the government, except by those with criminal self-interest. Our system works just fine, in principle.
It's fear of a pissed off 16 or 18 year old with an AR15.

Oh no! And you were so close to changing your mind, I could tell.
Well, had hoped you could admit the fact. Might have changed my mind about you.
It's the same fear you have. Who are you afraid of?
No, I don't fear legally armed citizens. And if you don't fear criminals, you wouldn't be asking for gun control.

I would reverse that statement to read; People with money just think some rights apply to them exclusively. The NRA is but one example. There is money to be made in selling as many guns as possible. The less restrictions, the greater the profit.

Remember Eisenhower's words; "In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex," he said in his farewell address. "The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist." https://www.npr.org/2011/01/16/132935716/eisenhowers-warning-still-challenges-the-nation
So rich Democrats only want themselves (or their bodyguards) armed, but Republicans and the NRA want accessibility to the everyone equally.
You do realize that the NRA is overwhelmingly funded by donations from private citizens, right? Only 10% of their revenue comes from manufacturer ads, which they can only sell because of their membership audience.
Military weapons are not sold to the public.

Legally armed citizens, who have had a background check and found to be stable and qualified to handle a deadly weapon of all kinds. from .22 to .50

So you're not afraid of legally armed citizens, since they have already passed a background check including history of mental illness (through due process).

No.
IMO, all sales of guns, commercial or private, should have background/mental history checks and registration of gun type and caliber (along with a sample bullet) itself would be a deterrent for that weapon to be used in a crime. The owner would be hesitant to illegally sell the weapon, because he would also be held responsible for breaking the law and in case of murder, might be held as an accomplice.

Moreover, if a person carries a gun, he may be stopped to ask for identification. When you get stopped in your car, the first thing a police officer asks for is your driver license.

Public safety rights outweigh all other individual rights, IMO. Forbidding the discharge of a gun within city-limits is but one example of a sound gun law. After all a gun of any caliber is a "deadly and inherently dangerous" long range weapon.

That would be a few decades of FUD* as generated by Faux News and the like. FUD is their chief product and they may be beginning to realize what a monster they've created.

*Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt.
