"You" dont really get Israelis.
Israelis like to see themselves as the "new Jews", they are strong, unafraid, can and will defend themselves when needed against all forms of antisemitism.
Israelis have also a softer side, they care what others think of them, especially non Jews, in contrast to their strong fillings of protecting their own people. Those fillings amazingly, can overwhelm their concern over their own life! Those two qualities go hand in hand throughout Jewish history, depicted and debated many times among Rabbis and the teaching of the bible.
Now, Why is this important?
Because the main reason Israelis tolerated the Palestinians is because somewhere deep inside, they thought that the world can accept Jews living in Israel in peace. If we have peace, they'll love us, if we will listen to them they will stop hating us, if we give them this territory they will listen, if we do what they ask there they will see how good we are and generations of lies and hatred towered Jews will change.
Like every naive child, truth will eventually hit one in the face, and when it does it hurts, a lot. We pulled back from Gaza, they still dont listen, We showed them photos of soldiers being beat up by terrorists on a boat, but they dont listen, they swallow every lie the Arabs tell them, how come? what is happening? why cant they see the truth? and why not? why every Israeli that goes a few millimeters outside of Israel has to endure waves of antisemitism? of course you can read 90 % of the posts here and get the usual its Israel fault, but try to look pass that, and understated: the average Israeli who sees this takes this to hurt. He understands he is hated and he understand it for what it is.
Having realized this the average Jew or Israeli, can choose either of two paths: one is the path of allowing the need to be loved by all to surpass the need to protect his and his people own existence. The other path is the exact opposite, come to pass with the reality that he will always be hated and do what he can to protect his children and family. Whatever path he will choose, he will do it to the fullest, with his entire heart.
What am I getting at? that most Israelis have chosen the second path. This is an unforeseen result by the efforts of Muslims and antisemitism worldwide to destroy Israel reputation in order to delegitimize its very existence. Detached from the need to care what others think, fueled by vengeance that is long overdue and the will to survive at any cost, Muslims made the tiny state of Israel probably the most dangerous place on this earth, ironically by trying to destroy it.
It is by their lack of true understanding of the Jewish soul, they themselves trigged something they only now begun to fear. As they should.
