Why do americans, dislike arabs, or muslims?

I didn't really understand the first sentence, but when we see massive protests against America, and (for example) leaders of the Arab world appear at rallies advocating the same, it makes it kind of hard to write off such behavior as ``just a bunch of Arabs exercizing their freedom of speech''.

This would be like (say) Bush appearing at a Klan rally.

First "They" meaning the american people that managed to look past the bigotry and actions of a few Extermists.

But the Klan doing a mass march on washiton is not a Group of extermists exercizing there freedom of speech and there right to protest.

Americans (in general) have had a low opinion of Arabs as well as Africans - and even Asians. Mainly due to the idea that "real" Americans are White people and White people are better than Arabs and Africans. Middle Eastern culture was by and large considered primitive, violent and backwards. I think Christianity went hand in hand with Racism to a large degree. Americans thought of themselves as White Christians and they were superior to Brown Muslims.

Two things:
1) Americans have seen themselves as superior to all other nations and people, not just Arabs and Islam.
2) Arabs are not all Muslim. There are Arab Atheists, Arab Jews and Arab Christians. Even Arab Scientology.

I know an Iraqi Christian and you couldn't tell him from any other yank. He's tall, has light brown hair and blue eyes. Is he "Arab"? His father and mother are from Iraq and he speaks Arabic at home. Something to think about.




While I'm not your average Yank, I personally would like to see people move past Religion and Racism as I see these as two memes with a violent history.

We had one arrested in Saint Paul, MN - she took it to court, but the fact that she had a criminal record of robbery and had only recently converted to the Muslim religion (since her last jail term), plus the opinion of the local cleric that an orthodox Muslim had no real business in such a bank, deflected sympathy to the security needs of the community.

Very few of my people dislike them for their religion, although there are some. The reason in almost all cases is politics. How can we have this discussion if we can't talk about politics? Especially with someone like Sam hanging around who cleverly misinterprets things in order to make her points fraudulently, so everything has to be explained in clinical detail to keep her from overwhelming the thread with her disingenuous trolling.

why would whites, supose that they are more degree than any one else, also, the orgine people of american ,are red indians, and guess what is their origin, Asia, the red indians, raeached america, in the first time, from soemwhere in russia,

In perspective America is not much more racist than any other country. It's not really about racism, it's more about having an enemy or someone that is 'against you' or 'holding you back' even. Creating competition, having foes, and even genocide* is in our blood.

It is better for national pride to place blame on someone else.

If someone is making your life tougher, either by taking your job or crowding the check-out at Walmart it is easy to feel frustrated and place blame on them (even if later you find out it was the registers fault)

Anyway my point is that this is not America's problem, but everywhere / everyone deals with it.

Most countries with border conflicts in the past 50-100 years have more instilled hatred for each other than America has for Muslims.

Most countries have some kind of foe, from the top of my head:

Japan <-> China <-> Tibet
Russia <-> Georgia
Peru <-> Ecuador <-> Columbia <-> Venezuela
Austria <-> Turkey
NK <-> SK
Congo <-> Lots of countries

And its not even racism, or national / clan / group / individual hatred. They all exist, in their own bubbles, all coming together everywhere. Some hatred has borders, other hatred doesn't.

But it's everywhere, and not necessarily bad in America comparatively.
