everyone has once punched/hitted (don't know the right word in english) his toe against a chair or so.
I had it last night (yes, in the dark, while getting some food), and I don't think I have ever had that pain before.

Especially the smallest toe, OUCH!

WHY?????? are toes so sensitive, the pain almost paralyses you, it doesn't make much sense to me.

this is one of the difficult questions of life, isn't it :D

Toes are sensitive because they are the primary tactile sensors while wandering about.

You're right about that wandering, but.... another question in reply:

aren't those different senses?; there are "feel-senses" for heat and for touch...

because I agree touch is the important one in toes, but is that the same as pain?

I once learned with biology-lessons, can not recall.

P.S. else I think that whatever created us, should've thought of bumping toes, and make pain another sense

Revenge of the Little Piggies

Probably because you swing your feet around a lot harder than you think (they're the farthest from your head and therefore easy to be clumsy with).

I guess the above theories sounds good. I would like to know why the heal of the foot is so sensitive though… I just stepped on glass and all and you would think with my kind of callus I would not feel a thing but DAM does it hurt!

Walk without shoes or foot coverings and you will find that you feet will toughen. The heel especially. Look at kids in the summer. If you have a long spring and summer you will find that their heels are so tough that rocks and such are not as big a bother as you would think.

For two reasons: You have a tendency to swing your foot a lot faster than any other part of your body because your legs act as a lever.

Secondly, at low foot levels, most things you can bump into are often hard and sharp.

would u rather "pain" (ie to know your cuting ur foot, burning it ect) or to die from lack of food cause u cant chace down ur pray cause ur feet are badly injured?

I doubt if digit sensitivity developed after we started walking on 2 limbs.

...and remember...Toes 2 U are fingers 4 4 legged animals. or something like that.
