Where to start?

Hey, I'm very interesting in AI and have only a scattered knowledge of it. I was wondering if any one knows of some books that will increase my knowledge of this field?

Perhaps you should read my post again (or actually read it for the first time).
Those links are to some good sites about AI, most of which will refer to you a wide variety of books and journals and other texts on the subject. There are things for beginners to advanced in those links. I suggest you browse through those links and note down some of the books if that's all you want to read. Your answers are there, and then some.

No problem. I've been known to do the same. I often rush through a long post or simply skim to the 'good parts'.

Why dont you try and read some of our earlier posts and archives of AI.that should be helpful,rather than going for books.

You could go for Ray books,but for more theoritical stuff,i can guarantee you that its not so for a complete beginner.
