we are not in control of our world!

When humans start to think we are superior to everything else on the planet, good ole mother nature puts us in "check"

Please post Tsunami photos, including bloated victims. That's a victory for earth.

So what?, some thousands of primates killed, more than 6 billion more remaining.
Big deal
I love the planet I live on. :)

To err is Human, but to really fuck things up you need global warming. You wait 'til the methane clathrate deposits start kicking in, and warming the world up in a quick hurry. Some scientists reckon that the world's sea-level is going to rise between 80-90 metres by 2100 AD. Great fun. :)

Which scientists? Link please.
I doubt we have so much frozen water. I think 10m-15m is more realistic.
And since we lived through the last ice age with no advanced tech, now it should be easier.

Has there been a total meltdown ever before?
p.s. we just have to build a great wall :D
p.p.s. There are plenty of places which are 100m above sea level.

*checks to see how far above sea level house is*

*starts building big motherf**kin boat*

Don't forget to take a lot of animals with you! :D
Or at least their DNA samples.

But we are. Because we cant only do awful things to the rest of Earths life forms.. we can think + talk about it also. Thing is, though Romans were superior to the barbarians in a lot of ways, they stil lost...

There was no ice cap anywhere in the time of the dinosaurs - ones which existed before then must have all melted.

Jennyrater has pointed out that in the Mezozoic there were no ice caps, and most of Northern Europe was subsea most of the time. Absence of ice has been the norm for most of the last 600 million years of Earth history.

But many of the centres of western culture and business are not. (London couldn't handle a 10m rise). The Netherlands would disappear. Singapore. New York. Cairo. Dubai. Bombay. Bangladesh. LA. Houston. Miami. Lagos. Bangkok.
However, it is a worst case scenario. (But just in case, my house sits just above the 100m contour. Presently twelve miles inland it would become a desirable beach front property!)

At the facility where I'm currently logged in, these photos you all praise so much DO NOT SHOW UP! This misfortune always seems to befall me (!!)

This is for android who wanted the images of the tsunami victims, rated (R)
this is sad.

O God. I didnt sign up to see that.. paradigm just lost my gratitude.

[Images like those sure do take the fun out of disaster movies!]

I requested those pictures, and I thank Paradigm for posting them.

It's important to realize that the same universe which has the natural beauty of pictures of celestial objects also has the natural horror of pictures of bloated victims.

They both have a place, don't they?

:m:

Since there is no warning on the title of this thread then perhaps maybe you could just link the pics so people can choose whether they look at them. Not everybody has such a morbid curiosity.

As sad and as bad as they are reality - this is what is really going on in the world today if we refuse to look at reality - because it is ugly or frightning we dont see what is really going on. these people died - out of the blue, just died. this could have been you or me. sometimes we get self indulged or think that we have it bad. look at these images, how can we have it so bad?

sorry if these offended anyone,. did not do it for any reason, just as a reminder of what really happened, sometimes the media shows a different side of things,

sorry
