I know it's not a good picture. It's an insect; it has wings; it has a relatively large, soft abdomen; a long piece in the middle where the legs are connected; and a small, but very hard head with a sharp 3/16''(I don't have anything to measure with mm handy and don't care to look up the conversion rate) long mouthpart. Oh yeah, the body is just over 7/8", not including the antennae. I found it in the western part of NY state; where it was on my shoulder, I swatted it, it fell down my shirt and bit me. It left a rather large hole for a bug bite, which resembles a wound from a pellet. I was playing with it as it died on my piece of cardboard. It is skilled with its forelegs, even weak and smashed, it kept grabbing the leaf stem I was using and flipping itself right-side-up on the stem from being on its back on the cardboard. I was actually kind of impressed. I believe it may be a damsel bug.
