What is the Tree of Knowledge?

Many variations to this but to me this would mean the evolution of knowledge.

Knowledge evolves.

Words are the creation of mankind.

Tree of knowledge?!?

Gen 3: 3and of the fruit of the tree which [is] in the midst of the garden God hath said, Ye do not eat of it, nor touch it, lest ye die.'

4And the serpent saith unto the woman, `Dying, ye do not die,

5for God doth know that in the day of your eating of it -- your eyes have been opened, and ye have been as God, knowing good and evil.'

6And the woman seeth that the tree [is] good for food, and that it [is] pleasant to the eyes, and the tree is desirable to make [one] wise, and she taketh of its fruit and eateth, and giveth also to her husband with her, and he doth eat;

7and the eyes of them both are opened, and they know that they [are] naked, and they sew fig-leaves, and make to themselves girdles.

8And they hear the sound of Jehovah God walking up and down in the garden at the breeze of the day, and the man and his wife hide themselves from the face of Jehovah God in the midst of the trees of the garden.

SUmmary: God says, don't, you will die. Serpant, say Nope, your eyes will be opened and you won't die.

They eat, becoming aware (conscious), put on fig leafs (self-aware) and then hide.

But then the climax of the story



Gen 3: 20And the man calleth his wife's name Eve: for she hath been mother of all living.

21And Jehovah God doth make to the man and to his wife coats of skin, and doth clothe them.

22And Jehovah God saith, `Lo, the man was as one of Us, as to the knowledge of good and evil; and now, lest he send forth his hand, and have taken also of the tree of life, and eaten, and lived to the age,' --

After telling the serpant how bad he is, Adam tells Eve she will be mom of 'all living'.... God, gives them new threads, and then says 'man was as of Us' and will live after taking from the tree

in words, from the bible and yet opinions will vary! :p

I personally believe the adam and eve story could be corrected to be evolved from atoms and energy. The apple day, was the day consciousness was born. Then we (mankind) became capable of learning (adam named his wife). The tree of knowledge could be the evolution of knowledge. In a sense the single creation that isolated mankind from the garden was words, beliefs and a whole bunch of tangents.

I say, when the pinnacle of knowlegde is reached, then mass (mankind) will be able to comprehend its existence.

Bit of a stretch.

There was no "tree of knowledge" but only the tree that gave the knowledge of "good and evil". It is the later clause that is key to the story.

The story is also a catch-22. Without possessing the knowledge of good and evil A&E would not have known that disobeying God was a bad thing to do, until after they had eaten - oops too late.
 
It is natural to surmise the 'the tree of good and evil' might be relating to 'the awakening of conscience or consciousness' from out earlier animal state. What is strange is the verse that says 'now that they have eaten of the fruit of knowledge (of good and evil) they have become as one of us--don't forget these are supposed to be God's words. What is even stranger is the fact that the scribes over the ages left that bit in. Because surely, that statement implies that there were or are more gods than just the one that is making the complaint.
 
And of course that humans are (and have been since Eve picked fruit over a Big Mac) gods.
 
well there was a book in the bible that was taken out because there were alot of them that like idk roman catholic priests decided to take out and one that was written by abraham, or at least that what the jewish people believe" said that adam and eve had their own level of "perfection" and Gods perfection was just higher-the ultimate, and so they basically got bored with what they had and satan saw that it was easy to tempt them and trick them and so by gaining that knowledge and achieving what they thought would be the ultimate perfection, they ended up having sickness, death, and sin in their lives

here is a list of books, and they are in three languages to cross reference the old to english, etc....

what book are you talking about. If if is talmud or interpretations, then i am not interested. As even Ted Haggart or even Dante did a bunch of that too.

The garden is that 'ultimate'......... as within, all is according to the laws of the boss (God/nature)

to start with, life is still on the earth, so adam and eve NEVER died.

second; the knowledge of good and evil is how we can comprehend choice. Without choice, we are still instinctive animals.

As instinctive animals we REMAIN in the garden (nature).

It is from the choices of mankind, we can know unconditional LOVE.

Without consciousness and choice, the words we are communicating with would not exist.

Stay focused on reality and not the ideas of beliefs!

the 'tree of knowledge' can be likened to the 'evolution of truth'

that pinnacle is when mankind (us/we the people) can comprehend reality, life and what we are and be able to make the pure choices of Good and Bad

to live to the ages by choice!

Honoring God (nature/existence) is to be honest and never create/pursue/follow a lie, just because of our own selfishness and need of acceptance by our peers; our duty is to be honest with 'reality" (God) over all.

The liars are the dying.

Be certain when each know the truth, find the false preachers and teachers will reap the most horid of judgment.
